Serious post alert 🚨👀
Today is Earth Day 🌍♻️. Its a day to reflect on how we protect the planet, and this year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” highlights the power people and communities have to drive environmental progress through everyday action.
Every load of scrap metal we recycle is a step away from landfill waste and a step towards giving valuable materials a new life - we’re proud to play our part with our customers by helping keep metal in circulation through recycling.
This comes just weeks after the UK government launches its new UK Steel Strategy, with plans to strengthen the UK steel sector, making greater use of the UK’s scrap steel supply, and increasing the use of UK-produced steel in public projects.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out from an environmental and industry point of view. Will it reduce the amount of scrap steel shipped abroad and will it strike the right balance between sustainability and commercial reality? And could it have an impact on UK metal prices and the value customers receive for their scrap in the near future?
We’d love to hear your thoughts.🧠
