At 17.26 in the link talks about hydrogen boilers in the not-too-distant future . I believe most boilers today will be able to run 80 % Gas 20% Hydrogen mix . Possibly Pure Hydrogen in the future with a change of gas valve but still very early days. . Im informed New boilers bought today will be hydrogen ready . Im convinced there will be enough Green hydrogen produced once the demand is there . Very exciting for our security and for our planet . Probably the first realistic cost effective green solution for the masses .

Unfortunately Cant see the Government Heat pump scheme doing much . They are offering £5000 towards a £10000 heat pump installation . All the floors have to come up , walls etc to Give Mega insulation ( big inconvenience for most people .) You also have to have a Cylinder tank and a large heat pump unit that most people don’t have room for especially in flats . Every little helps I guess but they recon only 90,000 (at a cost to the government of £450 million . ) will be installed over next 3 years . There are 30 million homes in the UK .

When they say no more gas boilers from 2035 I believe there will be hydrogen boilers or hybrids , part gas part hydrogen mix .
As far as I can tell new boilers sold today will be hydrogen ready . It would seem that If we have 100 percent hydrogen boilers in future all you will need to do is change the gas valve as you do with LPG .

It’s the only way I can see a real tangible difference in emissions across the country as the infrastructure is pretty much already there using the existing gas pipes .

They are hoping for 1st hydrogen boilers from 2026 . They are still in the testing process in only a few areas in the country . nothing is certain atm.
