Thursday came quick… dog walked, coffee in hand, still a bit groggy but showing up. Cold can hover in the background… early nights, Lemsip‑max, determination to beat it. Stuff to do, peeps to see, and I’m itching to get back to kickboxing… that’s the vibe.

Germs hit the Gerrish household at the weekend and haven’t left!

Cold is a cold, not ill enough to stay in bed, still walking the dog and doing all the wifey, mum stuff… so today I’m lemsip‑max’d and cherry‑picking the low‑brain‑power tasks.

The sneezy‑eye‑can‑cope specials.

The efficient, not impressive stuff.

Video calls were more self‑preservation than presentation… trust me, I look exactly how I sound and I sound terrible 🤫🤣

Tomorrow is another day… hopefully less sneezy, less head‑underwater sounding, and more colour in the face looking back at me on Teams.

Good job my office is my home, the commute back to Bed is a short one ✌️💕

What a week so far! Different industries, different roles.

One day I’m in full marketing‑director mode, the next I’m project‑manager‑brain switched on…the flip keeps me on my toes, for sure.

Different hats, different worlds… always learning, evolving, testing, and doing.

Yeah, marketing's been crazy in recent times… fast pace, shifting, unpredictable, but that's the gig.

It's where I'm at...focused, curious, adapting, and still smiling.

Mon–Thurs = client focused.

I'd love to jump into more things… but there's only so many hours in a day.

Getting from A to B quickly with the resources you’ve got… that’s business 101.

Most folks are busy, but busy isn’t the same as productive.

Efficient and effective are two very different beasts.

And sometimes?
It’s a classic case of more haste, less speed. Slow the scramble, clear the brain, and the work lands faster anyway.

Flipping from project to project, getting stuff done, that’s my day… but sometimes I need to switch gears quicker than the creative groove allows.

So, out come the little icon folks… a welcome distraction switch, a tiny digital doodle, a bit of social chatter and engagement… and suddenly the brain fog lifts.

Keeping it real ✌️💖 ready to go again.

When it’s computer 1, you 0,
and the login loop is spinning
in your face,
round and round you go in a wheel
you cannot escape.

You switch it off…
and on…
and off…
and on…
Messages piling, to‑dos pinging,
frustration mounting like a volcano ready to blow.

But then…
your inner tool‑savvy, workaround‑finding,
“isn’t perfect but it’ll do”
must get done survival mode kicks in.
A temporary truce... and stuff is getting done!

Tech support? On their way.
You? Holding the line.

Tech wizards arrive...
code flying,
“oops, not that”,
“try it this way”,
a sprinkle of magic,
a dash of wizardry,
a wave of experience…
and calm.

All restored.
All working.
All well in marketing land once again.

Isn’t it funny how the simplest instructions end up becoming stuff that sticks...

Whilst on holiday, coming up on a massive fallen tree, my kayak instructor looked at me and said:

“If you stare at the obstacle, you’ll crash into it. If you stare at the route, you’ll move straight past it.”

So focused on the river ahead… and I got past the massive tree.

Those two lines keep replaying in my head because I realise how often we stare at obstacles. Hold tension, brace for impact, and forget to look up.

This came from a 19‑year‑old young man who’d started his own business... he was focused, determined, and building a better life for himself and his brothers. His impact on me was bigger than he’ll ever know.

People impact people, often without realising it!

Don’t you love what a person and a different day can teach you?!
