🎆 Behind every great display is a professional team.

Long before the first firework reaches the sky, a professional display company has been working behind the scenes — planning the site, considering the surroundings, watching the weather and making decisions based on the conditions they find.

That judgement becomes even more important during periods of hot, dry weather.

BPA members have the experience and expertise to adapt. From the choice and positioning of fireworks to additional precautions on site, professional displays can be tailored to the location and conditions on the day.

The spectacular few minutes an audience sees are only a small part of the work that goes into delivering a professional display.

So while the countryside may be dry, it doesn’t automatically mean the skies have to stay dark.

🎇Good planning. Professional judgement. Spectacular results.

🎆 Professional Firework Displays & Dry Weather 🎆

Dry weather does not automatically mean that a professionally organised firework display cannot take place.

Professional display companies take fire risk extremely seriously. Every display should be considered individually, taking account of the site, surrounding vegetation, weather conditions, wind direction, the fireworks being used and the proximity of people and property.

BPA members have the knowledge and experience to assess these risks and, where appropriate, introduce additional precautions — such as increasing safety distances, modifying the display, providing additional firefighting equipment or water supplies, and working closely with event organisers and the emergency services.

There is an important difference between the uncontrolled use of fireworks and a professionally planned, risk-assessed and managed display.

Conditions can change quickly, and there will of course be occasions when postponement or cancellation is the responsible decision. But that decision should be based on a proper, site-specific assessment of the actual risks and conditions.

🎇 Professional displays are about planning, expertise and responsible risk management.

One of the many benefits of being a member of the British Pyrotechnists Association (BPA) is the opportunity to hear from a wide range of knowledgeable guest speakers.

At our recent members' meeting, we were treated to a fascinating presentation on the history of the firework magazine. The talk explored how firework magazines have developed over the years, the reasons behind their design and construction, and the important role they continue to play within the fireworks industry.

A huge thank you to our guest speaker, Chris Pearce, for sharing such an interesting and informative insight into a subject that is an important part of our industry's heritage.

It's talks like these that make BPA membership about much more than networking—they provide valuable learning opportunities and help preserve the history and knowledge of the pyrotechnics industry.

To find out more about Fireworks magazine, please contact the Editor & Publisher, Chris Pearce, at [email protected], or visit www.fireworks-mag.org.
