What happens when contemporary glazing meets a 500-year-old Norfolk barn?

At Sparrows Nest, VELFAC windows and doors played a pivotal role in architect Juliet Moore's renovation of this remarkable historic property.

VELFAC 200 was specified for its composite construction, thermal performance, slim profile and colour options, with RAL 6003 Olive Green externally and RAL 9003 Signal White internally. The result demonstrates how contemporary window design can sit confidently within centuries-old architecture while helping create a comfortable modern home.

From a cold and damp 1960s bungalow to a light-filled, energy-efficient home.

Tom and Louise completely transformed Tatton by reversing its original layout and creating an open-plan living space on the upper floor. A six-metre-wide glazed wall featuring VELFAC 200 windows now fills the room with natural light and connects the home with its garden.

Triple-glazed VELFAC windows, together with solar panels and an MVHR system, have helped improve the property’s EPC rating from E to B. A striking 1.5-metre round window also creates a distinctive focal point and frames views across the Wiltshire countryside.

The VELFAC windows were supplied by VELFAC distributor Westcott Construction Ltd.

When the view deserves to take centre stage, the frame shouldn't get in the way.
The VELFAC Signature Sliding Door combines narrow, angled framing with expansive areas of glass to maximise daylight and create a stronger connection between your home and the outdoors.

Made to measure, Signature can create glazed features up to 5.9m wide and 2.7m high, while its low 20mm threshold helps create a smooth transition onto a garden, patio or terrace.

A statement sliding door designed for contemporary self-builds, extensions and homes where architectural impact matters.

Sometimes an inward-opening window simply makes more sense.

VELFAC In combines slim contemporary design with practical inward-opening functionality. Its 93mm aluminium/timber composite frame and narrow profiles help maximise natural daylight, while the inward opening makes the outside of the window easier to access and clean from inside.

VELFAC In also offers a tilt function for ventilation and can be combined with VELFAC 200 windows and doors, giving you greater flexibility while maintaining a consistent appearance across your home.
