Fowler Martin is a CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessor and Low Carbon Consultant registered to undertake Energy Performance Certificates (EPC), Display Energy Certificates (DEC) and are certified to carryout Building Regulatory Part L Assessments using specialist modelling software. CAD Technician (Maternity Cover) – Opportunity in Ingatestone, Essex

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join our team on a maternity cover contract, expected to last approximately six months to a year.

There may be potential for this role to become a permanent position upon completion of the maternity contract.

About Us:

Fowler Martin is a dynamic Building Services Design Practice located in Ingatestone, Essex. We pride ourselves on our strong portfolio of reliable clients and diverse range of exciting projects. Our core focus is on designing building services for various sectors, including universities, schools, research laboratories, commercial offices, hospitals, and local authorities.

Key responsibilities:

Produce and modify 2D MEP Design Drawings using AutoCAD LT.
Collaborate closely with the design team to ensure drawings meet project requirements.
Maintain Fowler Martin’s high-quality drawing standards.
Prioritise workload using our existing CAD tracking system (MS Excel).

Requirements:

Strong experience in AutoCAD LT is essential.
Previous experience working within a mechanical and electrical design practice is a plus.
Relevant qualifications would be a plus.

Our benefits:

Fowler Martin Ltd. recently assisted in the delivery of University College London’s refurbishment project of the Grade 2 Listed Cruciform Building.

The building originated from the late Victorian era and was designed by English architect Alfred. The Cruciform started life as the University College London Hospital, but last became part of the University College London Research and Teaching space.

Phase one of the refurbishment works required the conversion of a canteen into a working teaching and research lab for the UK Dementia Institute. Fowler Martin were nominated as Building Services Designers and Consultants, responsible for both Electricial and Mechanical elements of design. Fowler Martin worked with Consultants Arcadia, DesM architects, T&B as the Principal Contractor and the M & E Sub-contractors as well as the Client team.

Fowler Martin has recently completed a refurbishment project of the South Quad at the University College London. The project, on which Fowler Martin acted as Mechanical and Electrical Designers, and Consultants, was part of the Transforming UCL Programme which aims to refurbish and modernise UCL, highlighting sustainability across the Campus. The South Quad was a particularly high profile project due to its location in a significant position on the UCL main Campus.
