To round off Community Energy Fortnight, we're shining a spotlight on Soirbheas !

Based in the Scottish Highlands, Soirbheas is a charity that uses revenue from its stake in a local wind farm to invest directly in the communities of Glen Urquhart and Strathglass.

Through funding and support, they've helped bring a wide range of community projects to life, benefiting local people, strengthening community infrastructure and creating lasting positive change across the area.

The impact of community-owned renewable energy can be truly transformative, and Soirbheas is a fantastic example of how energy projects can deliver real, long-term benefits for local communities.

As Community Energy Fortnight continues, we'd like to share a feel-good story from the Isle of Luing Community Trust!

They've installed solar PV and a battery system at their Atlantic Islands Centre, which now functions as a resilience hub where people can come together during power outages. They've also installed solar PV in their community garden, allowing them to power and charge garden tools from the sun!

These projects are helping to reduce energy costs, cut carbon emissions and build resilience for the local community, showing just what's possible when communities take energy into their own hands.

Next up on our Community Energy Fortnight feature list is Soul of the Junction SCIO!🌞

Based in Carstairs Junction, Soul of the Junction was started to save the local community hall and renovate and retrofit it to make it a more comfortable, inviting and energy-efficient space. They've installed a new roof, over 90 solar panels, and next up is tackling the fabric of the building to make it even more sustainable.

The solar PV array has already saved an incredible amount of CO₂, oil and money, and with the next improvements planned, the hall will become even more energy efficient, reducing its environmental impact while creating a warmer and more welcoming space for the community to enjoy.
