🏅New Contract Award

The Future Group has been awarded the structured cabling and fibre optic network contract for the substation communications infrastructure at SSE's Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) HVDC converter station in Peterhead.

Built on proven experience.
Peterhead is our third HVDC project for SSE. Our teams have already delivered communications infrastructures at the Kergord HVDC converter station in Shetland and the Noss Head switching station in Caithness, and we're bringing that hands-on experience to the UK's largest ever electricity transmission project.

Over the coming week, we'll be sharing the full case studies from Kergord and Noss Head projects.

⚡About EGL2
- £4.3bn, 2GW, 525kV HVDC link
- Around 436km beneath the North Sea from Peterhead to the Yorkshire coast, then on to Drax
- Enough renewable electricity to power around 2 million homes
- Completion expected in 2029

We are delighted to have been recognised with the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award 2026.

On 3 September 2026, Fraser Mackenzie attended the Armed Forces Covenant Silver Award ceremony at The Black Watch Castle and Museum in Perth, where 18 organisations from across the region came together to celebrate their support for the Armed Forces community.

Receiving the award from Brigadier Dave Calder OBE, Commander of 51st Infantry Brigade and Headquarters Scotland, was a proud moment for the Future Group team.
