I’m not going to lie, the last few days have unsettled me.

The endless suffering and destruction in the world is hard to comprehend and I’ll never fully understand it.

Yesterday I really struggled to focus on my business. My motivation dipped and I found myself thinking, what is the point in any of this? Which then spiralled into… why are we even here? A bit deep for a Monday.

So I didn’t try to force brilliance. I tidied my office. I did the jobs that required little to no thinking. I let my brain settle instead of fighting it.

But today, business has to resume.

And I’ve realised something. I can’t fix the world’s problems. I can’t control global events. But I can control what’s within my reach.

I can check in on friends.

I can take weight off my clients’ shoulders.

I can keep projects moving smoothly.

I can create stability where I can.

Small actions. Close to home. Within my circle of influence.

When the world feels overwhelming, shrinking your focus to what you can do isn’t avoidance. It’s survival. It’s contribution in the only way that makes sense.

Momentum doesn’t always start with grand gestures. Sometimes it starts with sending one message, finishing one task, supporting one person.

That’s where I’m putting my energy today.

Last night Liz and I attended the opening of the new exhibition Beyond Labels at The Hold. The exhibition shines a light on disability, identity and inclusion across Suffolk, and it is powerful.

Seeing Ian and Glynis featured as part of the exhibition, alongside Felixstowe Disability Pride, which Ian and I co-founded in 2025, was emotional in a way I did not expect.

What started as a belief that we should celebrate individuals, not limitations, is now being documented as part of Suffolk’s story 🫶

We are currently in discussions about delivering a much larger Festival of Inclusion in 2027. Watch this space!

Early days, big ambition, careful planning. Exactly how we like it 😉

On a personal note, having Liz not just beside me at events but as a true business partner has been a complete game-changer.

Building Free Range Collective together has strengthened the scale, creativity and impact of the projects we take on. Collaboration at this level changes everything.

Since launching at the end of last summer, we have:

➡️ Worked on the Mark’s Tey Heritage Project at St. Andrew's Church as Community Engagement specialists

➡️ Been working with Lowestoft Town Council on their pop culture project, When Lowestoft Rocked
