Halfway through. Mind 💙

I’m half way through my 100 mile challenge for MIND this June, and I’m enjoying making that time just for me.

I’ve just completed 4.1 Miles this evening listening to an audio.

Something I’ve started noticing on these walks are white feathers. They make me smile, it makes me feel like my gran is with me every step of the way. 🪽

Quick question for you ? does every post need a photo of you in it?

I’ve been scrolling back through my own Instagram and noticed: there’s a lot of me. Which makes sense, I’m the face of my brand, people connect with people, all of that.

But it made me stop and think. Is it the image of me they’re connecting with, or is it me, my voice, my opinions, the way I see things?

Because those can come through in a graphic, a quote, a behind-the-scenes shot of your desk, a photo of your dog. It doesn’t have to always be your face.

I work to an 80/20 split 80% value, 20% sales. But I’m rethinking what “showing up” actually looks like.

Everyone talks about boundaries like they're a simple decision.

𝑱𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒏𝒐. 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆. 𝑲𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒉.

And yet somehow, the moment you actually do it, it feels anything but simple.
Because the hard part of boundaries isn't knowing where they are. It's holding them when someone pushes back.

When they go quiet, get defensive, or make you feel like you've done something wrong.

Here's what took me a long time to understand: their reaction isn't information about whether your boundary was right. It's information about whether they were used to getting their own way.

You don't owe anyone a yes just because a no makes them uncomfortable.

Because she went to a Buffy convention in London, of course! 🧛‍♀️

I met him once and he was just the loveliest man. Warm, genuine, the kind of person who made you feel like you’d known him for years. One of those encounters you never forget.

Reading the cast tributes today has been heartbreaking. James Marsters, who played Spike, said “there’s a hole in the world” and that Anthony was “the best of us.” Sarah Michelle Gellar wrote: “I know I’m the lucky one because I knew you.”

Yesterday was a very sad day 💔

And while so many of us know him as Giles, let’s not forget he also played Dr Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show in London’s West End in the 1990s a role he loved enough to return to more than once.

The man had serious range. 🎭

Something I don’t say enough:

I have mentors too.

Even after 10+ years in business, I still have people I turn to when I’m second-guessing myself or need a proper outside perspective.

It’s not a sign that you don’t know what you’re doing. It’s how you keep getting better.

You don’t outgrow needing support. You just get better at using it.

A few signs it might be time to get some proper support in your business:

I dropped out of college. Lied about my age to get my first job. Worked in hat factories before I found my footing.

Not exactly the CV they tell you to aim for.

But everything I learned about people, systems, and real business, I learned by doing it. Not studying it.

That’s why I work the way I do. Practical over perfect. Real over polished.

If your path looks a bit unconventional too, you’re in good company.

The “doing it right” myth

There’s no right way to run a business.

I know that’s not what you were told. But the obsession with doing it “correctly” is one of the biggest things keeping small business owners stuck.

You’re not failing because you’re doing it wrong.
You’re just trying to do it someone else’s way.

Happy Sunday

Today I’m sitting down to plan out my walks for June.

I’ve signed up to walk 100 miles in June for Mind a charity that supports people with their mental health and one that is close to my heart. My plan is 3 miles every day, and if I can sneak a few extra in, even better.

June also happens to be birthday month for both me and James (hubby) so it felt like the perfect time to do something challenging.

I know times are hard right now, so absolutely no pressure, but if you have a spare £1 to sponsor me, I’d be so grateful.
