You'll be able to meet your local firefighters, climb aboard the fire engines, watch live demos and lots more!

It’s free, it’s fun, and it's for everyone.

Visitors attending this open day are invited to bring along small household appliances - such as hairdryers, kettles, toasters, phone chargers and extension leads - for free safety testing (subject to demand).

There can be unseen hazards when open water swimming. Cold water shock, sudden drop offs and hidden underwater hazards are all risks when swimming in open waters.

We’re supporting Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK ’s Drowning Prevention Week to help children and their families enjoy water safely.

Knowing how to swim is a great skill - but it is not enough to stay safe in the water. True competency and confidence in and around water require knowledge of the Water Safety Code, including always staying together, stopping to think about and assess the dangers before getting into the water, and understanding what to do in an emergency.

Last week, crews from Bedford Community Fire Station and Dunstable Community Fire Station came together for a multi-station technical rescue exercise held within the A428 'black cat' improvement scheme site

The exercise provided an excellent opportunity for our specialist teams to develop and test their capabilities in a realistic operational environment. Dunstable's rope rescue team demonstrated their expertise in rescuing a casualty suspended from a bridge structure, while Bedford's water rescue team carried out casualty recovery and search operation activities

Exercises like this are invaluable in maintaining the skills, knowledge and interoperability required to respond effectively to complex rescue incidents, while also allowing crews to work alongside colleagues from across the Service

🤩 A huge thank you to Skanska UK for their support in making this exercise possible. Their willingness to provide access to a unique training environment and their collaborative approach helped create realistic learning opportunities that will ultimately benefit the communities we serve.
