Pleased to have represented Worldly Wise as Project Managers this week at Astor Secondary School in Dover.

We are very happy to be overseeing this project for Nick Inge and Trevel Henry (co founders of Worldly Wise), a project aimed at encouraging young girls to pursue STEM subjects and careers to bridge the gap in representation in STEM fields.

Thank you to our speaker Dovile Catterick and Sam Johnson for connecting us!

Looking forward to attending the careers day at Maplesden Noakes Secondary School tomorrow with a range of brilliant business ambassadors for more STEM Sessions.

Did you know today is World Car Free Day?

World Car Free Day encourages motorists to give up their cars for a day and think about how they can use more sustainable transport for everyday journeys.

Why not follow Kirstin's example and cycle?

Cycling is not only a solution to the climate crisis, but an effective way for households to reduce the impact of the cost of living crisis.

Networking...

It's definitely a Marmite subject, but as a freelancer and business owner, it's impossible to survive without Networking. Here are some reasons why -

- It stops you from feeling isolated and lonely within your business.
- It opens the doors to new possibilities like jobs and collaboration.
- It allows you to find a tribe of like-minded people, either peers in your industry or others that share your values and work ethics.
- It can help you build confidence and increase your knowledge.
- It offers you a soundboard, to discuss, share ideas and gather opinions.
- Helps to build long-term relationships.
- Strengthens your professional reputation and showcases you as an industry expert.

So you see, it doesn't have to be scary, in fact, it can be fun and it's vital to business growth.

Go on...give it a go! 😊

Kirstin's first job was PA to the Director of Personnel (before it became known as HR) for London Regional Transport (before it became TFL).

Kirstin's first Core Green job was working for a charity as a bookkeeper for 1 day a week; the rest, as they say, is history!

Hello September! Hello back to work!

If like me you've just been on holiday with a toddler, you'll need another break to get over it. 😊

Here are my top tips for having a smooth first day back in the office.

- Block out time to go through your inbox.
- Sort your emails by sender or subject so that you can easily follow the trail of communication and figure out what still needs action or if the tasks are complete.
- Refer to the 'To-do' list you made before you went away. This will help focus your attention on priority tasks.
- Make a new 'To-do' list as you come across new tasks from your emails.
- Have a Team catch-up so you can be sure of what tasks have been cleared and what is outstanding.
- Relax and take breaks - don't burn yourself out. Focus on clearing one task at a time.

And if it's all too much, why not outsource? We can help reduce that 'To-do' list and reduce your stress levels.

Let's dig deeper -

Declutter your workspace
Take a couple of minutes to clean it up. Having an uncluttered and minimalistic workspace helps us to think more clearly and be more focused and ready to tackle the next task (or small step).

Just get started
You don’t have to wait for motivation to get started. If you want to work in a consistent way every day then sometimes you just have to get going anyway. And the funny thing is that after you have worked for a while things feel easier and easier and more fun and the motivation will catch up with you.

Start tiny
If a small step still leads you to procrastination try breaking it down and taking a small step. If this still leads you to procrastinate then go even smaller. Take just a tiny 1-2 minute step forward. That’s it. Because the most important thing is to just get going and to build momentum forward.

Reduce distractions
When you have easily accessible distractions all around you then it becomes hard to focus. So shut the door to your office, and put your phone in silent mode at the other end of your workspace.

Play music that gives you energy
One of the simplest things to do when feeling low in energy or motivation is to play music that is upbeat and/or inspires you in some way. A break with a few songs or working while listening to them for a while usually works well.

I am naturally drawn to 1. Declutter your workspace, 3. Start tiny, 4. Reduce distractions and my favourite is 5. Play music.

Which will you try?
