So I had a bakers cyst on the back of my knee since last week (result of a car accident ) and I haven’t been able to bend my knee , it’s been too painful to do a lot and I have been teaching so not spent much time doing Pilates.

One day at the studio here (it’s ongoing training for my third teaching training I started back in 2023 (prior to that was at Pi Studio in London with the amazing Holly), and my knee seems to have magically healed!!! Related? Got to be! …

Proof Pilates is magic!

I was also pleased that even with my injury I still with caution managed to do quite a bit of the extra advanced.

It isn’t even just me. A fellow student had a total rupture of many tendons a few months ago with a big scar and he has also been taking part in the extra advanced seminar and we were all shocked at what he can do so soon!

If you want to heal well Pilates is a great choice when done with proper trainers and hopefully actual Pilates not ‘Reformer’ Pilates (and yes we use a Reformer but there is a world of difference).

Persistence and mindful progression will get you there!

Happy Saturday from Rotterdam all!

Wunda for the fit person today - yeh! Yesterday’s work was on shoulder recovery, cleaning up my Corkscrew, Rollover and Sidebends and so much more.

Every moment is important and full of invaluable parts when learning from someone who has studied Joe Pilates so intensively for thirty years (as well as living with Romana for a period!).

Aside from that fashion is ace, and everywhere is a vibe, people are friendly and laid back (my kind of person!).

Back to Rotterdam as ever continuing my education.

It’s been three years since I began learning here after training in two of the longest educations in London one contemporary and one Classical.

There is so much to learn and whilst my original education was thorough and truly respected for its depth., it only scraped the full breadth of the Pilates Method.

It’s taken three educations to get to a place where I feel I understand the Method more.

It’s so hard to make time to post and share because I would rather focus on learning and being the best teacher I can for my clients.

Can’t wait to share with them when I return.

One of the strengths of Classical Pilates is that it isn’t a collection of exercises — it’s a system.

Each session builds on the last. Rather than constantly changing exercises, the work progresses through a clear method, using repetition, refinement and the full Pilates apparatus to develop strength, mobility and control over time.

In a small studio setting, the programme is designed around the individual, allowing each person to progress through the system at the pace that is right for them.

Ps: Music- Clair de Lune - Debussy , an album (a physical record in a beautiful red sleeved box) I had at home when I was a child and I remember choreographing to it and how it made me feel)

What is Classical Pilates?

Classical Pilates is taught as a complete system rather than a collection of exercises.

Working across the full apparatus, the method builds strength, control and alignment progressively over time.

From the first session, you will notice the difference— it’s more precise, more demanding, and requiring full attention rather than mindless movement.

My clients even get results from their first session, being able to walk normally for the first time in ages, knee pain far less, walking for longer suddenly.

This is not fast or cardio-based, but a structured and time-tested method that’s been proven to be effective. It’s the real deal of Pilates.

Sessions are kept small and guided closely, allowing the work to remain individual and exact.
