For those of you who work in data migration or integration the move from PNC to LEDS was posted on LinkedIn this will be a major achievement! 🎉 The data migration and integration between PNC and LEDS is a monumental task, involving four databases (names, vehicles, drivers, and property) that have evolved over 50 years. The complexity of harmonizing records created by thousands of users in numerous organisations, along with data from Police operational systems, is immense. Kudos to everyone involved for making this happen! 🚔🔗

We are very proud to announce that Datalynx have once again been successful in our application to be included as a supplier on the latest iteration of the G-Cloud Framework - 14. Datalynx has maintained its place on the Framework since 2014, consistently meeting the ever-increasing security and compliance standards.

G-Cloud is a framework agreement that is managed by the Crown Commercial Service (CCS), with the intent of streamlining public sector procurement for cloud services by pre-qualifying select suppliers so they can be engaged directly. Our successful application demonstrates our commitment to being a leader in the provision of secure cloud-based data management and integration services, with decades of experience and a core focus on working in the public sector.

We are delighted that we are able to continue to support the public sector in migrating highly sensitive or classified data in projects that help the UK government to inform policy and protect society.

Datalynx’s Simon Daw has recently cracked his main targets for his cycling season.

Riding in the UCI World Gran Fondo Series races on the Isle of Man, Simon not only repeated his age group win (this time the 60-64 category) in the time trial, held on the mountain road made famous by the TT races, but also finished 6th overall from an international field of over 100, beaten by no one older than their 30s. He tells us that the event is exactly to his liking, climbing 400 meters in 11 kilometers.

The following day, he repeated his age group win in the Fondo event, this time finishing second overall from a field of over 200 in the Medio Fondo. Holding a position at the front before attacking on the major climb, Simon then struggled to match one young rider on the descents, and a possible overall win slipped away in the closing stages.

With only three weeks to prepare for a very different type of race, he then took on the RTTC National 12-Hour Time Trial Championships. As the name implies, this involves riding as far as possible in twelve hours. Simon had not attempted one since 1985, and had failed to finish on that occasion. Simon again won his 60-64 age category, this time finishing in 26th place overall with a distance of 245.99 miles. He reported being fit for work the following morning, but that standing up from his computer chair presented more challenge than usual!

Simon now has a handful of more minor events left for the 2024 season.

Datalynx are proud to have recently been recertified to ISO/IEC 27001 BSI. Being certified to ISO/IEC 27001 by the British Standards Institution (BSI) is an important way for us to provide assurance of security, and rigorous audit ensures that we are maintaining our standards.
ISO/IEC 27001 is an internationally recognised best-practice framework for an information security management system (ISMS). Achieving certification demonstrates that our ISMS meets international best practice and shows that we have the ability to handle information securely.
Providing both high quality and also offering the most stringent standards of information security is key to our business, and these are the reasons we are successful in retaining clients.

Datalynx has again passed Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation. Cyber Essentials Plus is an enhanced version of the basic Cyber Essentials certification scheme, which is a UK government-backed program that helps organisations develop their cybersecurity posture.

Cyber Essentials Plus builds upon the existing requirements of Cyber Essentials. The basic Cyber Essentials program focuses on five core controls: boundary firewalls and network segmentation, secure configuration, access control, patch management and malware protection.

The key differentiator between Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus is the verification process. While Cyber Essentials relies on a self-assessment questionnaire, Cyber Essentials Plus involves an independent technical audit of the organisation's IT systems. This audit is conducted by an accredited certification body to verify that the controls outlined in Cyber Essentials are implemented effectively.

Cyber Essentials Plus helps Datalynx enhance our security posture and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to best practice.

If you’re struggling to maintain that New Year’s resolution to take hit those 10,000 daily steps, take a look at Datalynx Business Support Administrator Nicky Spinks’ latest exploit.

Nicky is competing in the 2024 Spine Race, which takes in the length of the Pennine Way – a mind-boggling 268 miles, a massive challenge at any time and even more so in the middle of an icy-cold January.

The event started on Sunday, and at the time of writing Nicky is approaching Checkpoint 3 at Langdon, having passed the half-way mark. She's been running for fifty hours. Best of luck, Nicky!

Datalynx will be remembering all of those who have served this weekend, and especially those who have made sacrifices in order that we can live and work free from the threat of war. We are proud that we are able to show our support and respect all year round by being signatories to the Armed Forces Covenant, and by being able to employ a number of ex-servicemen. We also stand with the innocents around the world, whatever their nationality or faith, who do not enjoy the privilege of peace that we do, and hope that conflict everywhere can be resolved.

Datalynx Operations Director Fred Keeling visited the purpose-built Elms Hostel and saw the amazing work being undertaken by DENS last week. DENS is one of our nominated corporate charities and strives to be the first port of call for anyone facing homelessness, poverty and social exclusion in the Dacorum area.
