🌬️ Last weekend's breezy weather across South Devon was a good reminder that strong winds can highlight trees and vegetation that need a little attention.

Living and working along the coast means dealing with strong winds, wet winters and fast-growing vegetation. Every landscape is different, which is why local knowledge makes such a difference when managing trees and outdoor spaces.

Working with the landscape, rather than against it, helps keep outdoor spaces healthy, safe and manageable throughout the year.

Great to lend a hand on this project in Salcombe recently, working alongside our friends at Bark and Branch. 💪🌳
Projects like this are a great opportunity to put our larger plant and equipment to good use, helping deliver the job safely and effectively.
An extra shout out to RT Farm & Industrial Buildings for their skilled grapple saw work throughout the project. 👏👌

What a job. 💪🌲🏉

After two weeks of hard work, one of the biggest projects Bark and Branch has ever undertaken is now complete at Salcombe Rugby Club.

18 large Macrocarpa trees have been carefully climbed and reduced due to increasing safety concerns for both the rugby pitch and the neighbouring properties. Every piece of timber was handled with care, and rather than removing the trees entirely, the remaining stems have been retained as valuable habitat poles that will provide homes for birds, bats, insects and other wildlife for many years to come.

This project has pushed us to our limits at times. Long days, plenty of challenges, and a huge amount of teamwork from everyone involved. I couldn’t be prouder of the lads for the effort, professionalism and determination they have shown throughout.

The weather certainly hasn’t made things easy either. We’ve battled through high winds, heavy rain and some challenging conditions to get the project completed safely and professionally.

On a personal level, this one means a lot. 🦀

Thank you to Salcombe Rugby Club for putting their trust in us, and thank you to everyone who has supported Bark and Branch on our journey.

Although the main works are now complete, you may still see us around the club over the next few days carrying out final tidy-up works, removing remaining material and making sure everything is left neat and tidy.

Here’s to the next challenge. 🌳

🐦Nesting season typically runs from March through to late summer in the UK. During this time, birds build nests in trees, hedgerows and dense vegetation to lay eggs and raise their young.🐣
Active nests are legally protected, which means they must not be disturbed. That’s why any hedge cutting or tree work needs to be carefully checked before going ahead.✅

🌿 Spring is here… and so are the birds 🐦
Around this time of year, we start getting the same question:
“Can you still cut hedges and carry out tree work during nesting season?”
The short answer?
Yes 👍 in many cases we can.

For TP Tree Works, it’s never a case of just turning up and cracking on.
From March onwards, birds begin nesting in hedgerows, trees and thick vegetation right across South Devon. Gardens, fields, development sites, it's remarkable where they choose their homes.

⚠️Before we start any work, we carry out careful checks of the area. We’re looking for signs of nesting activity and anything that means we need to adjust our plans.
If we come across an active nest, that part of the job gets left alone until nature has finished doing its thing. It’s as simple as that.⚠️

Most projects can still move forward, but occasionally timings need a tweak — and that’s why a bit of forward planning really helps.
