Motion North was something else last week.

Two days of jaw-dropping inspiration. New faces, familiar faces. And pizza slices roughly the size of Manchester.

Tom and Ols from our animation team headed there to fuel their creative sparks.
A few things they've shared with the wider team that have stuck:

Buck talked about “Motion Language”. Not just how things move, but why they move. The rhythm, the rules and the personality behind it all, that give motion meaning.

Nomad reminded us that great work happens when creative teams move as one force with shared energy – something that really resonates with us at H&H.

And Art & Graft? They’re not ducking the AI tidal wave, they’re turning to face it head on.

What stuck with us though is the message that motion is bigger than ever. It’s no longer a nice-to-have layer you sprinkle on at the end. It’s central to how stories land, how brands feel and how ideas stick - something we've known for a while 😜

Were you there? What were you left thinking and feeling? Were the pizza slices really that big?!

When fun goes missing, so does something else. And you know what day it is today? National Fun at Work Day.

There’s always a lot of talk about culture. But when pressure ramps up, all too often the first thing to disappear is fun.

We’ve all seen it. The jokes start to dry up. Meetings stiffen. People stop bringing their full selves. When laughter leaves the room, so does belonging.

And belonging isn’t a bonus. Without it, collaboration weakens and ideas shrink – energy stalls.

Neuroscience shows shared laughter doesn’t just feel good. It forges trust, accelerates connection, and reactivates engagement. It signals that you’re safe here. You matter here. You’re one of us.

Teams that laugh together begin to bond and ultimately build something better than they did before.

So what if we stopped treating fun as fluff and began to see lightness as a core leadership skill?

That’s why we created the Humour Connection. Sessions designed to help leaders use levity with intention. To energise and engage. Because when culture feels brighter, people show up bolder.

And it starts small. It might be a shared grin, a team ritual, a permission to play. Lighting that spark that says you belong here.

Fun isn’t the opposite of serious. It’s what makes serious work possible.

So, let’s bring it back. Together.

Brilliance needs believers. We’re proud to be one of them – and to have met so many last week.

The Brilliance Awards reminded us what belief looks like in action – graft, guts and spark from the people making the world of work better.

Here’s to everyone who keeps raising the bar and lighting the way.

Over to you: who’s lighting the way where you work? Tell us in the comments.

The Oscar nomination's may be out today but tonight’s all about the stars of the working world.

This is where graft meets glitter. Where purpose takes centre stage.

No red carpets. No stunt doubles. Just real people sparking brilliance.

If you’re at the International Brilliance Awards 2026, come and say hi - we’ll be cheering on every finalist and celebrating every spark.

Good luck to all the nominees. Tonight’s your night to shine.

This Thursday we’ll be celebrating the stars of the working world at the International Brilliance Awards 2026 – the people whose graft, guts, and spark make work better for everyone.

Because brilliance deserves to be seen, shared, and celebrated – and we can’t wait to be part of the night that does just that.

Mid-January can feel heavy here in the UK – which is why the idea of Blue Monday has taken hold. After a busy end to the year, diaries fill up, routines return and energy can dip.

This week on the H&H Incite Brilliance podcast, Cathy is joined by Paps, founder of Good Vibration, who shares the why behind his work and his belief that success in the corporate world doesn’t have to come at the cost of inner peace.

Paps explores how practices like meditation, yoga and sound baths can help regulate our nervous systems, bring clarity and support us in showing up at our best – at work and beyond. He also reminds us that wellbeing isn’t one-size-fits-all. We all take something different from these practices, and even if you’re sceptical, there’s no right or wrong way to experience them – so what have you got to lose?

The episode closes with a guided sound bath – a chance to pause, reset and realign.

If there was ever a week to ask yourself, “How do I want to show up – for others and for myself?” this might be it.

Tune in. Breathe. Reset. And incite your brilliance.

Is 2026 the new 2016?

In 2016, we thought the future of work would be about what offices looked like - and we're not just talking about what's on the walls.

Open-plan spaces. Free snacks. Unlimited holidays. Fast forward to 2026, and the real shift has been about how work actually feels.

Trust over presenteeism. More autonomy. Managers as coaches, not controllers.

But what was the biggest thing we got wrong? Thinking that the future of work would be driven by technology alone.

In reality, it’s been driven by people asking better questions about balance, purpose and what “good work” actually looks like.

Those pulling ahead are the ones brave enough to let go of what no longer fits.

We'd love to know what was going on in your world of work in 2016? And what did you think we'd be doing today?

Every day, we see brilliance in action – in the people we work with, the ideas that challenge us, and the courage that keeps work human.

That’s why we’re backing the International Brilliance Awards.

Helen Bissett, H&H’s Director of Possibility, says: “Team H&H is about inciting brilliance - in people, in teams, in how we work together. This partnership just made sense – two teams who believe that when people shine, everything around them does too. The Brilliance Awards don’t just celebrate what people do – they recognise the spark, the graft, and the guts it takes to make great things happen. That matters. Because when we shine a light on those moments, we raise the bar for everyone.”

What better way to round off the year than with a game of cards?

Not just any cards – a full deck of H&H Top Trumps, wickedly created by our own elves as a festive send-off.

Cue plenty of laughter as we took a playful look at ourselves – the quirks, the strengths and the things that make us, us.
But the real magic happens when you put all the cards together!

As we close out 2025, we just want to say thank you to everyone who’s been part of it – clients, partners and collaborators.

We’ll be giving our Top Trumpers a well-earned rest when we close the doors at the end of the day on Tuesday 23rd, and we’ll be back refreshed and ready to go on Monday 5th January.

Wishing you time to rest, recharge and enjoy whatever celebrations you have planned.

See you on the other side.

Here are our two Helens, popping by Changing Futures with a little festive care package – some Christmas treats and essential winter woollies, donated by our team to help spread a bit of kindness, when it’s needed most.

The team at Changing Futures do incredible work supporting adults with unmet needs across the Hull region. If you’ve got a moment, please look them up and see the impact they’re making every day.

And a big thanks to The HEY Smile Foundation for putting this all together and working with groups across the region to make it a better place.

Different traditions, same brilliant spirit.

The festive season looks a little different everywhere and that’s exactly what makes it brilliant.

Here’s something to enjoy and share: a light, joyful quiz that celebrates the many ways people connect, reflect and find joy at the end of the year, at work and beyond.

Even the smallest traditions can spark smiles, connection, and yes, a little brilliance.

Take the quiz, add your country, and help us see how far a little festive fun can travel.
