Or might not seem much but for a small practice this early it is pleasing as we push the boundaries to see how much we can do and give full attention to

Just left Buckinghamshire for a job in Hessle. We take our work seriously but are never averse to fuelling up with a Tim Horton’s.

A little local difficulty with an advert and hopefully we will be able to broker a compromise.

Very happy customer today. Client gave him a plan which Council Licensing rejected. We were approached to sort the problem. Quoted the usual price plus the increase to pay tax. Didn’t demur and since it was urgent and on Newland Avenue we had it measured and drawn up back to our client in just under two and a half hours - with it accepted.

Fees paid before we transmitted and no other customer deadline impacted. Will have to add a few hours into a working day but that’s what boutique businesses can do. We are hungry and customer focussed, we like customers not “business units”.

Fantastic few hours climbing on old cars and bits of steel measuring up a site for a client. Exploring which doors had something behind them or not as various owners add bits, detract bits, is riveting if you love architecture like me.

End up with grease on trundle wheel, even the laser measurer and all over my sketch plan but where there is muck….. We don’t just do residential here we get our hands dirty. Love the Planning business.

Oh heavens another update. Will be interesting to see how much work this committee does. I he’d many workshops where the members shaped the outcome by inputting at the beginning. Most councils the cllrs come in at the end.

Tax returns completed. Very grateful to all who helped get me to that position: making a profit and getting them into shape.

Now to be able to get back to work and try to find more business.

Well not the best note to end the year on - our second refusal. The work on the Appeal begins after Boxing Day. We take representing our clients seriously and think the council application of its own policy is flawed.

However we are grateful to all returning and new clients for trusting us. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

Today is the anniversary of the birth of one of my favourite architects - Cuthbert Broderick. Perhaps not widely known by name but Leeds Town Hall , the Corn Exchange, and the Scarborough Grand are known to many and admired by the cognoscenti of beauty

Done Ella Street Conservation Area Comsultstion - both professionally and also as a resident. It is always a joy to see the professionalism of Hull City Council planners in action. Glad to continue playing a (very small) part in the development of this.
