The celebrations continue at Top Kat Wellness! ✨🏆

I’m so proud to share that I’ve won GOLD for Beauty Therapist of the Year at the British Hair & Beauty Awards 2026, for The North — covering Scotland, the North East, the North West, and Yorkshire & The Humber! 💛

This award means so much to me. I’ve worked hard, studied hard and practised endlessly to keep learning and give every client the care and attention they deserve.

💖WELLNESS WEDNESDAY AND MY VERY SPECIAL PRODUCT TESTER💖

Mum was one of the first to sample my new Dermalux LED facial mask, and I think she looks rather fabulous in it! 🥰

LED light therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment designed to support healthier-looking skin, calm the complexion and encourage natural rejuvenation.

My Summer Charity winner's! ❤️

As many of you already know, I’m passionate about supporting good causes and giving something back to our community. I find it incredibly fulfilling and this summer, my chosen charity was the residents’ fund at Haworth Court, where my lovely mum now resides.
What better time than World Alzheimer’s Month to share the wonderful result of our fundraising raffle?

I gave Mum the very important job of choosing our first winner, although I must admit, I was slightly nervous that she might pick out a whole handful of tickets! 🤣

Mum selected Debbie Bowman, who has won a relaxing 60-minute hot stone massage with our lovely Wendy. Congratulations, Debbie! 🎉

Debbie, one of the wonderful senior members of staff at Haworth Court, then selected our second winner, Sue Rees, who has won a luxury bespoke facial with me. Congratulations, Sue! 🎉

Most importantly, together we raised an amazing £312 for the Haworth Court residents’ fund. ❤️

Many of the residents at Haworth Court are living with dementia, so this cause means so much to me personally. The money will help provide special experiences, activities and happy moments for the residents and that is truly priceless.

A heartfelt thank you to every single person who bought a ticket, donated or supported us. I’m incredibly grateful to have such kind and generous people within our Top Kat community.

Ten years ago, Top Kat Wellness began with a simple idea: to create the kind of place I would want to visit myself. ❤️

Not somewhere clinical or intimidating, but somewhere people could feel listened to, cared for and genuinely valued.

Over the last decade, that idea has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of. So seeing Top Kat featured by SME News and named Best Boutique Wellness & Beauty Salon 2026 – East Yorkshire is a very special moment for us.

One sentence from the feature sums up my philosophy.
“I do not see clients as appointment times. I see them as individuals, each with their own story, needs, and insecurities.”

Although we provide beauty and advanced skin treatments, Top Kat has always been about much more: helping people feel confident, creating a dementia-friendly environment where clients and families feel understood, and offering a place to relax, talk and feel cared for.

It’s also about community. Through our Top Kat Socials, clients who once arrived as strangers now enjoy lunches, theatre trips and nights out together. ❤️

I couldn’t talk about Top Kat without mentioning Wendy, who first came through my door as a beauty student and is now such an important part of what we do. Her kindness, professionalism and genuine care represent everything I want Top Kat to stand for.

And to our lovely clients, some of whom have been with me almost from the beginning: Thank you.🙏🏽

❤️ SOME NEWS I’VE BEEN BURSTING TO SHARE… ❤️

I’ve been sitting on this news for a few days now but with everything going on lately, I haven’t had the chance to properly share it, and this one really does mean a lot to me! 🥹❤️

I am absolutely thrilled and still pinching myself, to share that I have been named a FINALIST in the Woman Who Solopreneur Awards 2026! 🏆❤️

This one feels incredibly special because it celebrates women who have taken that leap, backed themselves and built businesses of their own. When I changed direction in my 50s and created Top Kat Wellness, I never set out simply to build a beauty business. I wanted to create something with heart and purpose. Somewhere people felt welcomed, valued and genuinely cared for.

What started as my little garden retreat has become so much more than I could ever have imagined. 🌿❤️

There have been long days, plenty of challenges, lots of learning and probably more cups of tea than I could ever count! ☕️😂 But there has also been an enormous amount of laughter, friendship, kindness and support along the way.

And none of this happens without 'YOU' My wonderful clients, friends, and everyone who recommends Top Kat Wellness, cheers me on and continues to believe in what I’m trying to create. So this finalist place belongs to all of us. ❤️

Next stop is my judges’ interview on 14th September, followed by the wonderful celebratory awards lunch in October. And whatever happens from here, I already feel incredibly proud to be standing amongst such inspiring women in business.

At 53, I took a chance on a completely new chapter. And if this journey has taught me anything, it’s this…

Festive get-together 💃🏼🎼😍🎄🧑‍🎄🎶

I’m already getting excited about our next Top Kat Social… and this one is going to be rather special! ❤️ We’re planning a beautiful festive evening at Hull Minster for ABBA by Candlelight 🎶✨

Just imagine those fabulous ABBA classics performed in the breathtaking surroundings of the Minster, illuminated by candlelight… I think it’s going to be magical! 🕯️🎄💫

Tickets are available at a range of prices, from £25.50 (restricted view) up to £49.50, with most of us currently booked in at the £49.50 level. There are also a few seats at £44.50 and £35.50 for those who prefer a different option.

And, of course, no Top Kat Social would be complete without food, laughter and plenty of chatter, so we’ll be enjoying a lovely meal together beforehand. 🥂🍽️
