With Covid19 in everyone's minds at the moment and the fear of losing your job now more likely than ever. Here is a reminder to ALL local Employers.
There is help out there for you from the Government BUT you also have to follow the law. So if you make people Redundant you are making that job redundant and there are rules to follow. There are notices to give of the impending Redundancy and Notice Periods to pay after you have selected who to make redundant. Many of you have not gone through this process before and will not always know the consequences of doing it incorrectly.
EMPLOYMENT LAW STILL STANDS.
Pay in lieu of notice is only taken by the employee if they decide to take it. THE EMPLOYER CANNOT Enforce PAY IN LIEU OF NOTICE.
Paid Notice Periods still apply even if you are closed. As does payment of outstanding Annual Leave.
Above all if you don't follow this then you will find yourselves in front of an Employment Tribunal.
Therefore if you need any help you can use ACAS or contact me as a HR Consultant to help you navigate through this.
For Employees I am also happy to represent you or give you advice if you are facing redundancy
