What a brilliant day at the Celebration of STEM event last week here in Orkney!

It's always such a highlight for us - getting to spend time with curious, enthusiastic young people and watching them take on a real challenge.

This year, students got to experience the full journey of AI-powered game development - from initial idea all the way to a finished, playable game. The excitement when they got their hands on the end result was brilliant to see.

Every team gave it their all, but a special mention to the few who tackled the harder level and absolutely nailed it - some seriously impressive problem-solving and teamwork on display.

We genuinely love seeing young people get excited about tech and AI, and moments like this remind us exactly why we love being part of events like this. 🙌

We were delighted to be part of Stromness Careers Week earlier this month 🙌

It was fantastic to spend time with so many engaged and curious students. From our lunchtime job-matching session, where we challenged them to think about what different job titles actually mean, to insightful conversations at the Careers Fair about AI, coding and the wide range of opportunities in tech, there was plenty of enthusiasm and great questions throughout.

Our Highland cow hoopla was a big hit as always, and the sweeties definitely helped keep energy levels up. 🍬

It was especially encouraging to hear from students interested in roles across tech, security and admin, and to share more about the different opportunities available at Kyloe.

A big thank you to Stromness Academy and Developing the Young Workforce Orkney for having us along 👏

When work involves dressing the happiest dog in a few cute outfits, it’s amazing how quickly the winter blues disappear.

Celebrating the fantastic local tech talent coming out of Orkney. 🎓💻

We were delighted to attend the UHI Orkney graduation celebrations earlier this year, meet this year’s students, and join in recognising the achievements of the graduates and award winners.

As our Kyloe Student of the Year Award winner, Michael Mooney, was sadly unable to attend the ceremony on the day, it was great to have the opportunity to present him with his award last week and congratulate him in person.

We’re always inspired by the incredible talent and passion for tech found right here in Orkney, and we’re proud to play a part in supporting and celebrating that. 🌊💻

We love seeing local talent thrive! 💜

Last year, as part of UHI Orkney’s graduation ceremony, we proudly sponsored the Kyloe Student of the Year Award. We presented Sam Hay with the award - and little did we know he’d be joining Kyloe just a few months later as an Associate Software Developer. Since then, Sam has already made an incredible impact on our team.

It’s been inspiring to watch his curiosity and confidence shine through as he continues to grow in his career at Kyloe. We caught up with Sam to hear his thoughts on his journey so far.

Big moment at our Kyloe HQ last week - we welcomed our first client visit to our Orkney office since Covid! ☕🏝️

With our only office based in the remote but beautiful Orkney Islands, and our clients spread across the globe 🌍, we haven't had the chance to host a client all the way from Asia on our home turf… until now!

We were absolutely delighted to welcome Richard from PRTR (based in Thailand) for coffee, cake, and a great chat - all under a rare week of glorious Orkney sunshine 🌞 (yes, it does happen!).

Face-to-face time with our clients is so valuable, and this visit felt extra special having it happen right here in Orkney after we completed PRTR's Bullhorn implementation.

Thanks again, Richard - we hope you enjoyed the visit as much as we did! 🤝

🏅 It's the International Island Games this week in Orkney! 🏅

As a company proudly founded and headquartered right here in Orkney, we couldn't be more excited to see our islands welcoming athletes, volunteers, and visitors from across the world for this incredible event.

It's inspiring to see everyone coming together for this event and we're especially proud to see some of our very own Kyloevians who are getting involved this week!

Wishing the best of luck to all the competitors and a huge thank you to everyone working hard behind the scenes to make the Games happen. Let's make it a week to remember for Orkney 🌊🏃♀️🏐🏹
