Orkney Sky Cam is one of few local businesses to hold caa the operational authorisation granted by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and an operations safety case for congested areas. We cover most aspects of aerial work from house portfolios, structure and building inspections to video advertising. This comfortably covers most situations. The platform we use is a DJI Phantom 3 pro, this has sta
te of the art features including smart return to home and a visual positioning system. The camera is a DJI model. It can record video from 720p to 4K ultra HD. It also takes 12mp stills. The Phantom 3 pro has a 3 axis gimbal for steady movement. It is also GPS and GLONAS guided. Weather in Orkney can be a problem as we do not fly in the rain and we are restricted to winds not exeeding 20 mph. We hold a PFAW granted by the CAA and an OSC for congested ares. This does not mean we have free reign of the sky. We still have to follow strict rules and regulations. Orkney Sky Cam holds public liability insurance for up to £5,000,000. We have the ability to fly close to buildings, and into awkward positions where other means of access may not be safe, appropriate or cost effective. We can provide detailed high definition pictures of buildings and structures where access towers, cherry pickers and scaffold may not be viable. We offer a quick solution to investigating an area that needs to be inspected. We can liaise with the client on the ground ensuring that all areas of concern are inspected. The client or surveyor is able to see what the camera is looking at via a real time first person view(FPV), with more detailed results available once drone has landed.
