Good news to end the year on! Thanks to generous funding from Historic England and The Churches Conservation Trust, a programme of conservation repair and heritage skills training will be happening at St John's. The project will address some of the most urgent repair needs in the roof and tower and provide a Summer School experience for 20 Heritage Building Skills apprentices and trainees during the summer months, supporting a new generation of traditional craftspeople and making the building safe and watertight.

St John's will be open 2.30pm-6pm tomorrow, 14th November - call in to see the beautiful interior, see plans for the future, and let us know what you think, as well as a chance to see beautiful ceramics produced as part of Spill the Mill Race. All welcome.

Volunteers are the best! Over 150 people welcomed to St John's for Heritage Open Day events this year, thanks to wonderful band of volunteers including our intrepid organist who donned a hard hat to play, filling the church with music The Churches Conservation Trust

Heritage Open Days at St John's Church, Lancaster
St John's will be open 10am-1pm on Saturday 9th Sept and Saturday 16th Sept for visitors, with short tours of the building available.

Consultancy Opportunity - Can you help us to understand and share the stories of St John's? We are seeking a creative and experienced individual or team to produce an Interpretation Plan for The Chamber at St John's.

The commission will include researching themes and histories relating to St John’s and the people associated with the building, including links to the trans-Atlantic trade of the 18th century, when the church was constructed, establishing key themes and messages, consulting with partners and stakeholders, and developing costed interpretation ideas to RIBA Stage 3 or equivalent.
