Over the past few months I've been working with a community group in Dumbarton helping them to create a stained glass panel inspired primarily by the "Denny Arkivz", also shipbuilding and the social scene experienced by the Denny Brothers Shipyard employees.

Its been a blast and I'm so impressed with the panel they have created.

This week has been spent setting up the exhibition and finishing off the lightbox which houses the panel.

There is a private view this Saturday and the exhibition opens on Monday.

Before this project I was unfamiliar with the "Denny Tank", the first of its kind, a water tank used for testing model ships. It's fascinating, I can't believe I'd never been before. I'd urge you to come along for the exhibition but also to see the tank and all the paraphernalia that goes along with it. A must for history buffs. I'll talk more about it in other posts but don't want to give too much away just now.
Hopefully you can make it along and see for yourselves.

Here are some photos from the set up, I'll post more after the opening..

Today was spent doing demo's to some students from Ayrshire schools with .

We both love glass so much and enjoyed sharing our stories and how we came to work with glass with the students, and their teachers, explaining briefly our career paths.

With stained glass now on the endangered crafts list it's vitally important to share our knowledge of the craft with the next generation and hopefully inspire them and at least bring the craft to their attention.

After the demo's we set up for tomorrow's spooky halloween themed, hands on, workshops, where participants will create a ghostly copperfoiled mobile.
There are still some places left so why not come along and have a go 👻👻👻😱👽👺

Booking through Scottish Maritime Museum website in their events section, or on the door.
