Our Protection Racket drum clinic with Ash Soan really couldn't have been more perfect last night. The Arborist Cafe took incredible care of us going above and beyond 🙌🏻 Simon, Louise Molly, Joel & Becky setting up 120 seats, a drum riser with skirt and generally just being awesome!! The beers and coffees were flowing with beautiful pizza care of Rhubarb Pizza'zz in a stunning location, the sun shone, we had a beautiful August Full Moon (cheers for the pic Dusty Miller) and the audience was a wonderful mixture of old friends and plenty of new ones who were totally engaged and captivated by Ash's playing and stories!

I know from the many messages I've had today that everyone went away invigorated and truly inspired. I think my dear friend Al Rowe sums it up perfectly; "What an incredible night with Ash, informative, relaxed intimate atmosphere through access to an incredible drummer passing on his advice and knowledge to all ages. An unforgettable night".

I want to thank Ash for making the trip down, you were captivating 🕺🏼 what a truly wonderful and richly deserved career, with stories as groovy as your drumming THANK YOU 😉 It really was worth the 12 year wait 💪🏻 to Mike Bigwood for teching and giggles, Mike Dolbear for encouragement and direction 😉 to Foz Foster for impeccable sound and calmness, Rog Luxton for Mics, leads, studio and to everyone who bought a ticket and supported the evening, what a wonderful bunch you are 👊🏻 Let's do it all again soon.

Welcome to the Protection Racket family matt garnett 🕺🏻🖤😎

Matt Garnett is a touring drummer, most notably performing as a member of Nieve Ella band. Alongside Nieve, Matt has performed hundreds of shows across the UK and Europe, including major festival slots to thousands at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Electric Picnic, Boardmasters, and Lollapalooza.

He has toured the continent performing at venues including Dublin’s 3Arena and London’s Wembley Arena as support for both Inhaler, and Girl In Red, and has headlined sold-out venues including Koko London, New Century Hall Manchester, and is due to headline the prestigious O2 Kentish Town Forum this autumn, as part of Nieve’s debut album tour. Matt has also recorded live sessions for BBC Radio 1 at Maida Vale studios, NPO 3FM in the Netherlands, and his performances at Glasgow’s TRSNMT Festival have been broadcast live on the BBC. His studio work has also been showcased on BBC Radio 1, with both Nieve Ella and Kilu, a rising London-based talent.

Matt’s work has recently been recognised by British Drum Company, who he proudly endorses both on stage and in the studio.

Important announcement re the Evening with Ash Soan here in Cornwall on Thursday 27th August 🥁 Tickets have sold like HOT Pasties!! Matthew Talbot is a 27-year-old professional drummer from Manchester, UK, performing extensively across the UK and Europe in the rock and blues scenes.

He is the drummer for UK rock band Gorilla Riot, touring nationally and internationally. Matthew performed on the band’s 2024 album Salvation, which charted on both the UK Official Albums Chart and the UK Blues Chart.

He has also toured extensively across Europe with the Chris Wragg & Greg Copeland Band, recording an album in Germany and performing at major festivals in Portugal, Spain, Romania, France and Switzerland. In addition, he has performed as the drummer for the house band at the World David Bowie Convention, sharing the stage with members of David Bowie’s original 1970s band.

Having used Protection Racket cases throughout his career, Matthew trusts their gear to protect his drums and cymbals through the demands of touring and international travel.
