Again today, we were asked whether KLEENOIL can make old engine oil “new again” after someone had seen an online video showing black diesel engine oil being turned back into clear golden oil.
The honest answer is NO — and neither can any ordinary filtration system.

Genuine used engine oil does not become black simply because it contains visible dirt. It is affected by soot, heat, combustion by-products, oxidation and additive depletion. Filtration can remove contamination, but it cannot reverse chemical ageing or replace additives that have already been consumed.
To return genuinely used engine oil to a clear golden base oil would require full industrial re-refining, including processes such as dehydration, vacuum distillation, hydrotreating and the addition of a fresh additive package.
Industrial oils are different.
Hydraulic, gearbox, turbine and other industrial oils are not exposed to the same combustion process as engine oils. In many cases, their main problems are solid contamination and water rather than heavy soot loading and combustion by-products.
With the correct KLEENOIL filtration system, these oils can be cleaned and dried to levels equal to, or even cleaner than, new oil.
