After and before.

We often install fireplaces were there are none, to create focus and symmetry. The eye and the brain like balance. This one had been installed previously, and whilst a beam works in a period or rural home, here it was too heavy for the more refined proportions of the stove. The new surround adds the balance the room needs.

Just into lockdown our super Client asked if we could help with some updates to their home. As we have worked so well over so many years the challenge of lockdown working was quickly overcome. We didn’t need a site visit or one to one in depth meetings. Ideas could be emailed, and as we know the house and our Clients style so well we quickly developed the schemes. This is a quick pic she sent yesterday of the updated study, and we are so pleased! Walls are a brave choice but give a perfect backdrop to the desk, and accessories. Working from home has become a huge part of the new normal and this is a great example of how it can work.

The garden is so very nearly finished in terms of landscaping and planting. Down to the incredible hard work of The Tall One, who had only previously set foot in a garden to kick a ball with the offspring. He has worked tirelessly to make this space, including moving 80 tons of materials up and down a steep slope. And has yet to complain about the SGH vision. Also huge thanks to our neighbour who turned his hand to hard landscaping and vowed never to do it again. Now Mother Nature needs to do her thing.
