Exciting news... During the quieter start to the year I've been looking at the business model and back at enquiries.. there is a demand for bigger house clearances and larger items so I'm response we have now purchased a new and bigger van!! Anyone with a bigger job in mind or needs old items removing or new ones delivering let me know. 🚚 👍❤️

A perfect time to pack away those winter clothes you actually got use out of and bag up items that enjoyed being hung in your wardrobe all season!

It was a slow start to the year but sales are picking up now so get sorting and let's start springs a fresh 👍

I am quite visual so I like Pinterest and Google for help… this is a simple search for autumn capsule wardrobe, you could add your favourite colour or pattern to the search to make it more personal and you get some great ideas..

FOCUS - on us….

How to build a capsule wardrobe.

1 - pull everything out of your wardrobe, shoes too….

2 - organise into three piles - must have… maybe wear and never wear…

3 - pass the never wear to Lucy’s Loft…

4 - question your maybe pile - when was the last time I wore it? Will it go with other items in my must have pile, would I walk into a shop and buy it now? Go through point 2 again…

5 - you now have your core items 👍

6 - now chose a base colour from your capsule items, black and or navy are a must have.

7 - chose a neutral colour to conordinate with your base colour.

8 - chose accent colours or patterns to incorporate to your base..

9 - wear what makes your feel good…

10 - have your own identity and love your self, do you unapologetically 💕

Who's wardrobe is overwhelming?!?

For the first time in my life I have cracked having a capsule wardrobe and realised less is actually more!!

Here is a top tip to help you to identify wardrobe pieces to clear out!

TOP TIP #4

Hang all your clothes with the hangers in the reverse direction. After you wear an item, return it to the wardrobe with the hanger facing the correct direction. You’ll soon have a clear picture of which clothes you can easily recycle!

For those of you that struggle to remove anything (at the end of the day us ladies do LOVE clothes and shoes!) I can help! I've received a few enquiries this week asking what I sell - I do complete house clearance so I deal with everything and anything and you would be amazed at what sells!

What’s one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!

There is a need for everything!

So from clothes to cupboards and shelves to sheds what ever the item I am happy to see what I can to for you.

My aim is to make it as easy as possible for you so all you need to do is pile the items up that you want to clear out and I will come and collect them. Include tip items and charity shops items too and I will distribute them on your behalf to save you the journey.

I have lots of links to local charity organisations so will make sure items that are not saleable go to a very good cause.

For those or you that struggle to be ruthless and make decisions I do also offer a home visit service where I come and assist you in the decluttering process.

Top tip # 3

Before you start your clear out / declutter try and mentally prepare yourself, consider what you use on a daily basis, what’s been sat in a cupboard or on a shelf for a month or perhaps been pushed to the back of the loft for years.

This will highlight what could possibly go.

It's also good to ask yourself what you actually benefit greater from, keeping those items or letting Lucy work her magic and you gaining a financial return to perhaps spend on something that you will get more use and enjoyment from?

So cluttered you don't know where to start? Lucy also does home visits and can work through the process with you. This is either charged by the hour or on bigger jobs as a project fee.

If like me you find the weekend offers the opportunity to involve the children in decluttering the following top tip may assist in harmonious bedroom tidying - we can but hope 😉

Top tip # 2 -

Take the 12-12-12 Challenge. A simple task of locating 12 items to throw away, 12 items to pass to Lucys loft and 12 items to be returned to their proper home can be a really fun and exciting way to quickly organize 36 things in your house.

On more than one occasion, this challenge actually became a quick competition between my children and in no time toys were tidy and in the right places!

We generally don't throw anything away unless it really is on its last legs so our throw away pile is actually called the charity shop pile.

This activity also helps my little ones learn some important values in life. Of his own accord my eldest made a little pile of toys for the charity shop last week and proceeded to tell me it was the right thing to do as not everyone is lucky to have toys like he has and he wanted to be kind! Proud mummy moment!

My weekly top tips will help you to declutter and make money at the same time!

Top tip # 1 - Schedule time specifically to declutter - there is no point attempting to sort through your house / shed / garage etc if you have other jobs niggling away, the phone ringing or a toddler hanging off your leg. You need to be able to focus and have the head space to be ruthless.

You'll find that if you are in a rush or being harassed everything will just get shoved or crammed back in cupboards and draws and nothing will be achieved.
