The sign & print industry never fails to surprise me!
Over the last few months we’ve heard some absolute gems...
“Can I work from home?” – applying for a production role.
Our recent fav - “Our sign isn’t illuminating, we need someone here now to sort it” -the installer arrived - no power to the sign WTF!!!!!
And one I hear all too often...
“I’m learning how to make signs on YouTube. I want to bring everything in-house. Can your one-day course teach me how to make signs?”
Our answer?
No... and that’s not a bad thing.
Sign making is a skilled profession. It takes years of experience, mistakes, mentoring and hands-on learning to truly master.
A one-day Bootcamp can give you confidence, knowledge, understanding of products, processes and terminology - but it won’t replace years on the workshop floor.
That’s why induction, training and setting realistic expectations have never been more important. The better the foundations, the stronger the business.
So I’m curious...
What’s the most surprising thing you’ve heard from a job applicant, new starter or customer recently?
We’d love to hear your stories (keep it kind - we’ve all had to learn somewhere!).
