Jeff Kindleysides – artist, designer and co-founder of the globally renowned design agency Checkland Kindleysides, is the first Artist in Residence at the Canopy gallery UNDERSTORY.

From April to September 2026, his residency, The World Via King Street: Journeys of a Creative Life, brings together exhibitions, events and creative experiences that reflect on a remarkable career spanning over 45 years.

The opening exhibition charts Jeff’s journey from his early days co-founding a global design agency aged just 23. Alongside archive work and major brand projects, the residency also introduces The Crossing – a deeply personal exploration of bird migration through art, poetry and music created in collaboration with Leicester musician Robert Charles.

Visitors can also take part in workshops, mentoring sessions and celebrate the launch of Jeff’s book, A Lockdown of Mythical Journeys.

A true full-circle moment, Jeff’s creative journey returns to King Street – just steps from where it all began.
