Those little black spots? They might not be coffee stains ☕️💩

These images show bed bugs and some of the tell-tale signs they leave behind.

Those dark, almost ink-like spots on wood, mattresses and bed frames can be bed bug faecal spotting. They can look surprisingly similar to tiny coffee or ink stains, but they’re a good reason to investigate further! 🪳

Bed bugs are excellent at hiding in small cracks and crevices, particularly around beds and furniture. Spotting the signs early can make a big difference!

From 30 November 2026, Phase 2 of Awaab’s Law will include pest related hazards in social housing in England. 🐀🪳

The new requirements will introduce set timescales for social landlords to investigate and act on significant hazards within their properties.

This is a positive step towards ensuring pest problems are taken seriously and dealt with promptly.

MHCLG has confirmed that the second phase of Awaab’s Law, which includes pest management, will enter into force on 30 November 2026.

When the drains are dry… the rats might be making a detour! 🐀💩

This drain showed some pretty clear signs of rat activity, with droppings indicating that rodents are using the drainage system to move around.

During prolonged periods of hot, dry weather, some drains and drainage systems can have much less water flowing through them, potentially creating easier routes for rodents to move through.

It’s one of the reasons drains are an important part of our rodent investigations. We don’t just look inside the property! We look at how rodents could be getting in, where they’re travelling and what could be contributing to the problem.

That gap showing the natural daylight? A rodent sees an open door! 🚪☀️
