Relaxation of Lockdown does not mean the virus has gone.
R0 below 1.0 still means you can be infected if you come in contact with a COVID-19 carrier.
Government have a responsibility for implementing a track and trace system, but they also have a responsibility to get the economy going.
However, each one of us has individual responsibility too. If you don’t there is every possibility that you will be infected and potentially die or cause others too. This is real and imminent!!
Taking individual responsibility means:
- Reducing exposure for self and others by staying home or socially distanced for really essential trips only, which are kept as short as possible
- Continuing to work from home, do not feel pressured to return to your workplace if you can do your job satisfactorily from home, more so if you are in vulnerable category. The government supports this.
- If you need to be in your workplace, follow rules on distancing, hygiene, etc. If your employer forces you to do otherwise, report them to the local environmental agency or the Health and Safety Executive. Your employer has a responsibility to provide a safe workplace.
- Maintaining hand hygiene and keep your hands away from your face
- If you have symptoms or been in contact with someone who has, self isolate and let others you know you have been in contact with in the previous 14 days.
- Only travelling on public transport as a last resort, if it cannot be avoided, wear a face mask, correctly covering your nose and mouth, with a good seal.
- Do not get complacent, just because the government is relaxing guidance and because you want your old life back. May result in a short life!!!
