We want to raise as much money as we can for Harley โค๏ธ

Anyone is welcome to take part, please call into the office for the colouring page or I can send you one online if you have access to a printer.

Donations to the office please ๐Ÿ˜Š

This will take part on the 30th October 2026 and winners will be announced on Friday for colouring competition, so please make sure you send over or bring into the office before Friday.

We are raising money for Harley one of your team members son.

โคLets get Harley his Independence โค

Harley is four years old and living with SMA Type 1.

SMA has left Harley with very little muscle strength, meaning he cannot walk or move around independently. He relies on wheelchairs and the people around him carry to help him get where he wants to go.

But Harley is happy, cheeky, loving and full of life. He wants to play, explore, make friends and experience childhood just like every other four year old.

What will your donation fund do?

It will transform Harleys everyday life, it would give him.

- Freedom to move independently.
- More choice and control.
- The chance to explore at home and school.
- The ability to join in and play with his friends.
- A little more independence and a lot more freedom.

Harley has overcome more than most of us could ever imagine.
Despite hospital stays, serious infections, surgery feeding difficulties and needing help to breathe at night. Harley keeps smiling.

โคHarley deserves Freedomโค

๐Ÿซก LEIGH REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE & SERVICE 2026 ๐Ÿซก

โค๏ธ WE WILL REMEMBER THEM. WE WILL HONOUR THEM. WE WILL NEVER FORGET THEM. โค๏ธ

There are some days in the year when our community comes together for something far greater than ourselves.

Remembrance Sunday is one of those days. ๐ŸŒบ

A day when we stand shoulder to shoulder, not just as veterans, families, friends and neighbours, but as one united community.

A day when we remember those who marched before us, those who stood beside us, and those who never made it home.

A day when we remember the courage, sacrifice and selflessness of the men and women who gave so much so that future generations could live in freedom.

๐Ÿ“… Sunday 8th November 2026

๐Ÿ“ Leigh Cenotaph

๐Ÿ•ฅ Remembrance Service โ€” 10:45am

FOR VETERANS WISHING TO MARCH:

๐Ÿ•™ Meet at 10:15am on St Mary's Way, between Leigh Library and the Church.

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง The parade will form up and set off at approximately 10:30am, marching together to Leigh Cenotaph.

FOR THOSE NOT MARCHING:

Please make your way directly to Leigh Cenotaph from 10:30am onwards to join the community in paying our respects.

Parade timings are approximate and may be subject to minor changes.

Following the service, the parade will march back towards St Mary's Way, with the salute taking place at the front of the Library Square, near the bus stops, before the parade falls out.

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง ALL VETERANS, FAMILIES, FRIENDS & SUPPORTERS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US AT THE ELLESMERE SUITE AFTER THE SERVICE.

Once the formal commemorations have finished, we would love you to join us for some well-deserved friendship, conversation, nibbles and refreshments, kindly provided by the Leigh RBL Branch and The Leigh FOB CIC.

Because Remembrance isn't just about looking back.
It's also about looking after those who are still standing beside us today. โค๏ธ

It's about the veteran who hasn't seen an old comrade in years.

It's about the widow or family member who wants to remember someone special.

It's about the young cadet learning what service, sacrifice and remembrance truly mean.

And it's about reminding every veteran that although the uniform may have come off, the brotherhood and sisterhood never end.

๐ŸŒบ AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

LEST WE FORGET. ๐ŸŒบ

Chest infections can be serious โ€“ and prevention matters, especially as we head into colder months. ๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ’™

Chest infections affect the lungs or large airways. Common symptoms include a chesty cough, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest discomfort, a high temperature, headaches, aching muscles and tiredness. Many improve within around 7โ€“10 days, although a cough can last for up to three weeks.

Respiratory illness also places significant pressure on the NHS. Respiratory disease accounts for around 700,000 hospital admissions and 6 million inpatient bed days each year, with demand often peaking during winter.

Damp and mould can affect your lungs too. Damp and mould in the home can increase the risk of respiratory infections and worsen conditions such as asthma, bronchitis and COPD. Government estimates linked damp and mould in English homes with around 8,500 lower respiratory infections in 2019.

Help reduce moisture at home by ventilating rooms, using extractor fans, avoiding drying clothes indoors where possible and dealing with leaks promptly. A dehumidifier can help remove excess moisture from the air, but it's also important to identify and address the underlying cause of damp or mould.

If you have a chest infection and feel very unwell, your symptoms are getting worse, you cough up blood, or you've had a cough for more than three weeks, contact your GP. You should also seek advice if you're pregnant, over 65, have a weakened immune system or have a long-term heart, lung or kidney condition.

A Story of Strength, Love and Determination

Eighteen months ago, one of the people we support was diagnosed with vascular dementia. To her family, she has always been a gentle, caring and independent woman with a wonderful sense of humour. Shy by nature, she has a warmth that draws people in, and everyone who meets her quickly falls in love with her kind spirit.
Throughout her life, she showed remarkable strength. She worked in heavy industry, raised two children as a single parent, and always put the needs of others before her own. Her family describe her as selfless, determined, and fiercely independent.
She has always enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. A good book, a challenging puzzle, knitting, and spending time with loved ones brought her great happiness. While dementia has changed some of the things she is able to do, it has not taken away her love of a day out, a nice lunch, or a slice of cake. She still enjoys visits to gardens, the zoo, and local attractions, making the most of every moment.
Some of her happiest memories are of growing up alongside her seven sisters and later caring for her three grandchildren. Her home was often transformed into a school, library, shop or cafรฉ as she spent hours playing with them and creating magical childhood memories.
Today, her family are dedicated to supporting her just as she has always supported them. They hope that by sharing her story, more people will understand the impact dementia has on families and the importance of continued research and support. Their message to others facing a diagnosis is simple: continue doing the things you love, cherish the time you have together, focus on the positives, and never be afraid to seek support.
Above all, they want people to know that despite the challenges dementia brings, their mum remains what she has always been โ€” a strong, determined, and deeply loved woman.

Please help us fund the research to make these memories last ๐Ÿ’œ
