Sometimes our goals can change. I used to think that making more profit was my main goal, but I realised having time on my own, out in nature is just as vital to recharge my batteries.

When I used to work all the time my energy felt low and I was a lot less productive. Taking that time for myself made me a better business owner.

Customer service is paramount, even when you are scaling your business. You cannot afford (quite literally) for service to take a back seat. I hope these suggestions help!

The question I get asked more often than not is ' How do I find time to delegate?'

To help me with this, I employed a PA for a few hours a week initially, so that they should do some of the background tasks and free up my time to show my team how do the tasks I wanted to delegate.

As a result my team were empowered to take on some of my workload and free up my time to work more on the business rather than in it.

When you are passionate about your business it can be tempting to run before you walk.

Over the years I have learnt to always sleep on a decision, rather than jump in with both feet straight away.

This doesn't mean ignoring your intuition, it just allows time to make sure that it feels right.

Sometimes our intuition will prompt us about something for the future rather than right now.

Often people focus on a business SWOT but a personal SWOT is possibly more important as it provides us with the opportunity to be honest with ourselves.

We may realise the things we're not so good at or don't like doing, so it's a great opportunity to delgate or outsource.

Every year I take myself on a train journey to my favourite beach in Northumberland.

It's a beautiful place to gather inspiration and being beside the sea always feeds my soul. The movement of the journey allows me to let my creative side flow.

Sometimes thinking about goals can be quite daunting.

Personally I prefer to start by switching off my head and listen to my heart and imagine what I would like to be doing this time next year and the year after.

Once I have clarity of what I am doing I can create my first step. Often the 2nd step does not become clear until I have taken the first step. This can feel scary although always remember that courage over takes fear.

Business Planning doesn't have to be done sat at your desk.

I love business planning on a train, sat by the river, or on a beach.

Getting outside of the office environment allows my ideas to flow.

I love to go on train journeys especially to the coast where i can switch off and let my intuition flow and feel inspired.

I ALWAYS return rejuvenated and energise. I recommend that everyone in business does this on a regular basis. Otherwise it's like trying to drive a car with a flat battery!

There is always a way to achieve what you want. Sometimes it may take longer, or the route might not be what you expected. If you want it, you will get there.
