It's Small Business Week!

Small businesses are the backbone of our county. They take risks, create local jobs, and bring character to our communities.

Now in its 15th year, Small Business Week is all about supporting our small business heroes.

There are plenty of simple ways to show your support. One of the easiest is by engaging with them on social media: Like their posts, share their content and leave a comment.

It might seem small, but every interaction helps raise their profile and makes a real difference.

On Thursday 30 April, the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre raised the UK National Threat Level from substantial, meaning an attack is likely, to severe, meaning an attack is highly likely.

While there is no specific threat to North Yorkshire, an attack could happen anywhere.

The police service and its partners are doing everything they can to help protect the security of citizens, public institutions, critical national infrastructure, businesses, venues and public spaces.

Businesses are advised to review their protective security plans in response to the increase in the national threat level and consider additional contingencies to safeguard their people and places.

ProtectUK provides businesses with free advice and guidance to help them understand protective security and improve their response to the risk of terrorism.
