Our annual charity golf day in Nottingham continues to grow, bringing together clients, contacts and businesses from across the region.

This year, we raised over £1,000 for Nottingham Forest Community Trust, supporting the work they do across the local community.

A big well done to Breheny Civil Engineering on taking the win and thanks to everyone who got involved.

It was great to see so many familiar and new faces. We’re looking forward to building on this again next year, getting more people involved, growing the event further, and making an even bigger impact for the charity.

Great accounting isn’t just about reporting the past. It’s about helping businesses move forward with confidence.

From our roots in Lincoln to offices across the East Midlands, Wright Vigar has grown by supporting businesses of all shapes and sizes.

As an independent regional firm, we take the time to understand the detail behind each client’s business, delivering proactive, practical advice that helps them plan ahead, not just look back.

But what truly sets us apart isn’t just our expertise. It’s our people.

We recently captured the heart behind what we do, the industries we support and the team that makes it happen.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our recent networking event at Pure Padel.

It was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with fellow professionals, enjoy some friendly competition and raise £1,200 for & Notts Air Ambulance.

It’s great to continue growing our presence in Nottingham and be part of such a strong, supportive business community.

UK businesses are facing a challenging payroll landscape right now.
Fewer staff. Rising pay. Increasing pressure on margins.

It’s a combination that’s forcing many employers to rethink how they manage payroll, staffing, and overall cost control.

In this latest article, we explore:
- Why payroll costs are continuing to rise
- What fewer employees actually means for day-to-day operations
- The hidden risks businesses need to be aware of
- Practical steps to stay compliant and in control

We’ve launched a new initiative at Wright Vigar, Wellbeing Bingo. It’s a simple idea, encouraging the team to move more, get outside, and take some time for themselves across the working week.

For us, this isn’t about ticking a box or running a one-off campaign. It reflects a wider focus on creating a workplace where people feel supported, balanced, and able to perform at their best.

If you’re connected with the team, keep an eye on their posts or follow along to see how they get on!

Stablecoins are meant to reduce friction. Tax often does the opposite.

Under current UK rules, everyday stablecoin activity can trigger a surprising amount of tax admin, especially where payments, token swaps and DeFi all overlap.

Louise Lane's blog breaks down why HMRC’s stablecoin tax review matters, what the proposed "No Gain, No Loss" approach could mean in practice.

Most charity trustees don’t think of accounting changes as a risk. But SORP 2026 isn’t just “new rules”. It can:

• Change how your income is recognised
• Bring lease liabilities onto your balance sheet
• Shift whether you need an audit

And with threshold changes coming later in 2026, things can move quickly.

The challenge isn’t understanding the rules. It’s having the right information ready when you need it.

We’ve broken this down into the key risks (and what to do next) in the our latest article: https://www.wrightvigar.co.uk/news/charities-sorp-2026-threshold-changes-lease-income-reporting

In 2026, a profitable P&L isn’t enough if the cash dips at the wrong time.

Lenders want evidence of resilience: current management accounts, a 12–24 month cashflow forecast, and a downside plan that actually makes sense.

Here’s the key shift we’re seeing: underwriting is more “prove it now” than “tell us what happened last year”.

Read David Goodall's article on what do lenders look for in a business loan now and how do you show it: https://www.wrightvigar.co.uk/news/what-do-lenders-look-for-2026-bank-ready-forecast-cashflow

If you’d like a second pair of eyes on your forecast, cashflow pinch points, or the pack you’re about to send to a lender, we’re happy to take a look.
