Not every layer of security is high-tech. Sometimes the simplest thing works because it's exactly what it looks like.

Alongside patrols and alarm response, we place hi-visibility security warning boards around a site's perimeter. It's a small, low-cost addition, and it's specifically there to make an opportunist think twice before they've even reached the fence line.

The clocks don't change until the end of October, but the nights are already starting to draw in.

Most businesses only think about lighting, patrols and alarm cover once it's properly dark by 5pm. By then, the sites most exposed over autumn and winter have usually already had a few weeks of reduced visibility working against them.

Worth checking now, while there's still time to act:
🔸 Are entry points, car parks and walkways properly lit?
🔸 Does your patrol schedule still make sense once dusk falls earlier?
🔸 Is your keyholding and alarm response cover ready for the shift?

Every officer, front line and office-based, is SIA licensed. It's one of the things that's easy to overlook when comparing quotes, and one of the things that matters most when something actually happens.

If you're reviewing your current security provider, it's worth asking the question directly: are they SIA Approved Contractor status, or just SIA licensed staff?
