Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1 When is the auction?
The auction itself starts at 10:30am on Saturday 28 March 2026.
For those wishing to enter items for sale, we accept entries:
Friday: 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Saturday: 8:30am – 10:00am
2 Where is the auction held?
The auction takes place at Lincolnshire Showground, LN2 2NA.
3 Is the auction members-only?
No. The auction is open to everyone who wishes to buy or sell beekeeping equipment or livestock. You do not need to be a member.
4 Do you sell bees?
Yes. In 2025, there were around 60 live hives offered for sale.
5 Is a catalogue available before the sale?
A catalogue is produced on the day of the auction and will be displayed in the viewing area.
6 What information is required when selling bees?
All sellers of bees must complete and sign a legal declaration.
This includes:
Bee variety (if known)
Whether the queen is marked
Hive type being sold
Varroa treatment details
Seller’s personal details
These forms are securely archived. In the event of a health issue, we can work with the National Bee Unit (NBU) to trace the livestock back to the seller if required.
Buyers may inspect these documents before bidding, providing reassurance about the bees they are purchasing.
7 Are the bees inspected?
We aim to have a Bee Inspector attend prior to the auction. If an inspector is unavailable, basic checks will still be carried out where possible.
8 Is there a registration fee?
Yes. Anyone wishing to bid must register, obtain a bidder number, and pay a £2 registration fee.
9 Can I place a reserve on my goods?
Yes, reserves are permitted. However, if an item does not sell, it must be collected on the same day.
Any items left behind may be disposed of or given away.
10. New to the auction? Selling your parents gear?
That's fine, just bring whatever you have and we will sort it on the day, live bees as above, all registration booking and everything for new and non members is easy and on the day. Costs £2 to register.
