Why Stocktaking matters – Bar Staff
1. Do you know how much your business is losing to staff pilferage?
2. How much do inexperienced staff contribute to losses in your establishment? Simply overpouring, not adding drinks to customer bills, using more expensive products in cocktails etc can add up.
3. Are free drinks being given to family and friends and maybe to customers to help increase tips?

Our advice to clients in the hospitality sector:

• Check your SKY contract. See if it is possible to cancel SKY sports and yet keep the racing channel if required. There is also the possibility of SKY giving a moratorium.

• Check your insurance Policy to see if you have cover for loss of business revenue. My own pub insurance contact informed me that I was covered for all other viruses but not this ‘new COVID19’ even though Coronavirus has been around for some time.

• Check staff contracts re sick pay and holiday pay.

• Check with HMRC regarding leeway for your VAT return.

• In the event that premises have to close check your alarms and response times and make sure keyholder details are up to date.

• Check if Diageo and Tennent’s NI will uplift your surplus stock of kegs if required.

• Ensure your toilets facilities are well stocked with handwash and towels. If hand wash is unavailable use shower gel/body wash to refill.
