Returning to work following furlough .....
We hope both employers and employees are coping ok during the current climate.

One of the issues that has been flagged across various business groups and sectors is where businesses are now asking employees to return to work following the latest Government announcements on Sunday evening. They are simply calling employees asking them to come back to work and there are some other actions that you must also take.

You must un-furlough any employees that are returning to work from furlough in writing (as the furlough letter varied their contract of employment so this needs to be updated when un-furlloughed) and also remove them from the list that you have submitted to HMRC regarding furlough payments under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. This is because to not do so would mean you are breaching the scheme and you could be liable to repay the furlough monies you have received.
