Installing unvented cylinders? A vacuum can occur if the hot water cylinder has not been fitted with an anti-vacuum valve on the outlet as, if a greater pressure occurs outside the vessel (i.e. the draw-off rate becomes greater than the inlet flow rate) it can result in the cylinder collapsing and releasing high temperature hot water to areas below. This can occur where the cylinder is located in an area much higher than the outlets (for example in the loft).
