This AEG single oven hadn't been used in several years. Whenever the new tenant tries to use the oven, it causes the RCD to trip.
After checking the elements, we found that both were damp and leaking to the earth, which caused the RCD to trip.
After replacing the element, the oven was working again.

One of today's repair call-outs. The 'RCD' kept tripping whenever the cooker was switched on. The faulty part was quickly identified and replaced. I tested all three ovens up to operating temperature.

While repairing the grill on this Rangemaster cooker the customer told me that both ovens had stopped working. She told me they had been faulty for years but she had got used to not using them and could cope with just the grill.
I knew straight away that the ovens were probably not working because the timer was on automatic. I set the time and the both oven started working.
After teaching the customer how to set the timer I got her to practice.
There must be a lot of Cookers that get replaced unnecessarily because the owner hasn't realised the timer needs to be set.

'Mr Muscle' Oven cleaner is certainly keeping me in work.
If you use it, make sure you keep it away from the back cover, clean off any residue, and then rinse it off again. If you leave any of the cleaners inside the oven, on the screws, elements or seams, it will slowly corrode the parts.

Another job by Rochdale Oven Repairs. A customer called with a 'New World' freestanding cooker that had a faulty main oven control. The control had snapped inside.
A call to 'New World' confirmed that the control was obsolete and no longer available. Studying the control I realised it was the same one that is used on a lot of different cookers. A lot of manufacturers will say a part is obsolete once they are no longer obliged to supply spares, normally after five years. Each time they produce a new model the manufacturer will change all the part numbers, even when many of the parts are identical.
I fitted a new control and the oven worked perfectly.

This Rangemaster cooker shows the damage using to much oven cleaner can do. The fan element had split and the motor had stopped working, it was clogged up with cleaning solution.
After replacing the motor and element I cleaned up all the excess oven cleaner and replaced all the corroded screws.

Stoves freestanding cooker in Saddleworth. Model number - 444444720.
I replaced the main oven thermostat after the customer reported that the oven was overheating and burning food.
The fan was running strong but I suggested that the fan element should be changed due to it having a split in the outer tube.
