Damp readings? We investigated further in the subfloor.

During this damp survey, elevated moisture readings led us to inspect the concealed floor void using a borescope. We found wet timbers, allowing us to investigate areas that would otherwise remain hidden and assess whether deterioration may be present.

Following this, we did a calcium carbide to assess whether the masonry is showing any clear signs of damp.

Could an extension affect the property next door? 👀

During this structural survey, we found significant cracking where a kitchen extension meets a neighbouring garage, which appeared to be pulling away. Although there were reassuring signs internally, further investigation was recommended to establish the cause of the movement.

Double glazing can help reduce heat loss, but the condition of the windows, how well they're fitted and the property's insulation all play a part.

Cracks near your drainage?

During this structural survey, we found horizontal cracking extending through the brickwork, internal cracking and drainage close by. With a historic well also nearby, further investigation was recommended to help establish the cause.

Buying a house? Don't overlook the electrics. ⚡

An older fuse board and dated plug sockets can be clues that the electrical installation needs checking. A building survey can highlight concerns, but a qualified electrician is needed to assess the installation and confirm whether a rewire is required.
