Have you thought about raising productivity through employee engagement? 🤔If not, then you should.

Employees who are engaged are likely to stay employed longer as they feel valued, appreciated and enjoy the work they are doing.

We have highlighted just a few examples of things organisations can consider as part of achieving employee engagement below:

✅Having clearly defined job specifications with objectives that are linked to the organisation’s goals
✅Ensuring information, related to the employee’s role is readily available to the employee, i.e. company procedures
✅Ensuring all office equipment allows employees to complete tasks effectively and efficiently
✅Having a robust appraisal process in place, which ensures employees have feedback on their performance and also have the opportunity to discuss development opportunities ✅Implementing Personal Development Plans in place for employees
✅Ensuring line managers regularly thank and praise employees
If you would like further guidance or support on this matter or require advice on other people management, please contact SmoothHR:

Contracts of Employment are important, as this is the agreement between employer and employee which governs the relationship between both parties 🤝 The content of each individual contract will depend on the nature of the business and the job which is on offer – since the change in April 2020, are your contracts up to date? 🤔

It is critically important to remember that employment contracts need to be compliant with UK law. Because of the serious legal risks, it is advisable you don’t attempt to create these yourself.

Get in touch with us, we are happy to guide you through the process and take the headache away so you can focus on the day-to-day running of your business.

Employment law can get tricky 🤔Different types of contracts work for different businesses and you need to know your business needs as well as the legality of different routes of employment before you start the employment process.

➡️Can a self-employed person employ others?
➡️Can a business employ self-employed workers?
➡️Are self-employed workers considered employees?

Are you looking after your team members? 🙌🏻

Protecting your staff is the law, but it is also your moral obligation to ‘do the right thing’. If a member of your team was injured and you know you could have done more, how would you feel?

As per Health and Safety At Work Act 1974, you and your business have a legal duty to look after your people, premises and others who may be affected by your undertaking. Bad health and safety practices cost more than money, there is a time and possible reputational impact when things go wrong 👎🏻

SmoothHR can help you achieve regulatory compliance, protect your employees from foreseeable harm and build a strong, positive health and safety culture in the workplace 💯

To understand more about Health and Safety and how we can help you better protect your people and your business, get in touch with us today.
