Can you believe it's September already?! We all know what that means.....it's the month of back to school or starting school for the very first time!

This is a time when many different emotions and feelings are experienced by children, parents, and teachers.

Lisa The Calm Charm and I are back for Mental Health Monday tomorrow on Liverpool Live Radio with Roy, and we thought it would be an ideal topic to chat about.

Tune in from 11am to listen. πŸ’œ

Today is the beginning of Mental Health Awareness week and the theme this year is.... movement.

Movement is very beneficially to our mental health, and there are many ways in which you can do it.

Now, some people might automatically think movement = exercise = having to go to the gym, but it doesn't have to be. Yes, some people like the gym, some people don't, but that doesn't mean there isn't another form of movement you could do, better suited to yourself. You could

πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈgo for a walk in the park
πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈride your bike
πŸ’ƒput music on and dance around the living room
🧹do some housework
🌻 spend time in the garden, planting, mowing, walking etc.

Movement doesn't have to involve your heart racing and you to be sweating buckets or even cost a lot. Any movement is better than no movement.

So with this in mind, what sort of movement will you be doing to benefit your mental health this week and beyond?

Lisa and I were on Liverpool Live Radio this morning with Roy, talking about this. If you missed it, and would like to listen back, here it is from around 1hr 16 mins in.

Wow, this is a powerful, interesting and very thought provoking video, which I just had to share!

It is an experiment by Lego, which demonstrates how the language used with children (particularly girls, in this one) can have a negative impact on their creativity, from as young as 5 years old!

'The words that get in early, get in deep'.

This shows that how we speak to children and the words we use, can either build a child's confidence or completely knock it down.

It's really interesting to watch the body language of the children in each experiment and then hear them describe how they felt.

Have a watch and let me know your thoughts. πŸ’œ

It’s time to celebrate the creative power of girls! Small changes to our language can make a big difference and help remove the pressure for perfection to le...
