Had my first few hours shooting with the C50 on Friday.
Learning it on the fly with a very understanding client.
Here are my initial thoughts…
I’m coming from shooting with the R5c from when that launched, and a C70 before that.
The audio settings are the biggest change for me from the R5c to the C50. Anything I used to know about multiple audio inputs on the C70 is long forgotten.
My Shinobi doesn’t fit on the top handle with a shotgun mic, so I need a cage so I can mount it off to the side a bit.
I’m getting a lot of handling noise with the shot gun mic on the handle, but I guess that’s user error and I need to work that one out in the settings. Plus need to work out the 3.5mm mic input with the DJIs I use.
Battery life on the first battery wasn’t great, but I was changing lot of settings while shooting, so I guess that’s why as the second battery seemed to last a lot longer.
The image on the display seems very green compared to my R5c, but obviously all monitors and screens have a colour cast unless calibrated.
When we sat down to do a quick edit, my client commented on how good the footage looked. Which surprised me as I didn’t think he’d see any difference.
I’d rather he saw a difference than me staring at it to tell myself it’s better 😂
I have the Smallrig base cage on it at the moment, not much to say about it until it’s seen some more use.
I really like the feel and weight of the body with the RF 70-200mm f/2.8 Z. The top handle is really nice in the hand.
A few more days with it to tweak the buttons etc and I’ll be in love!!
