Christmas Poem: by Poems by Em
With each passing December day,
And Christmas drawing near,
It’s crazy to think that it’s almost time,
To turn our backs on this terrible year.
Many people are feeling festive,
The excitement comes as a relief,
But for some, Christmas is not magical;
A time filled with hardship and grief.
There are those who struggle every year,
Unfortunately, this is nothing new,
But its particularly hitting home now,
With this pandemic we’ve all lived through.
For some, life has never been harder,
And the past few months have been hell.
From families, to single parents,
From the elderly to the homeless as well.
The list of people losing their jobs,
Has also grown at a shocking rate,
Which is why we need to band together,
And do our bit to donate!
Christmas is a time for giving,
And it’s important to understand,
That there are people in our very city,
Who could use a helping hand.
It’s so vital now to remember,
As we’re sure everyone would agree,
That what matters most is certainly not,
What lies beneath your tree.
Let’s ensure it’s a merry Christmas for all,
By getting through this time together.
May the rest of your year be filled with love;
