A single atom can make a remarkable difference.

Congratulations to our FS5 customers, Azmy et al., on their publication in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces and for being featured on the front cover!

Their work shows how a single-atom change (nitrogen to phosphorus) in metal halides can significantly improve stability, opening up new possibilities for robust water-stable materials, including PFAS sensing applications.

The team used the Edinburgh Instruments FS5 Spectrofluorometer to characterise the photoluminescence spectra, lifetimes and quantum yields, supporting the study of material performance.

A fantastic achievement and a great example of how advanced spectroscopy supports cutting-edge materials research.

A fantastic install of an FS5 Spectrofluorometer over in Massachusetts by Andrew!

Researchers worked closely with Andrew over a few days with a huge amount of enthusiasm.

Everything came together smoothly and before long the researchers where using the FS5 to obtain high quality lifetimes and absolute quantum yields that could then be correlated to their predictive models and precursory measurements

Andrew also took the opportunity to explore the beautiful Stewart Gardener Museum - and by the look of the photo who can fault him

From 10 AM (ET) tomorrow, this conference will be focusing on emerging techniques for analysing complex biological data. Michele Tonet, our Application Scientist, will be giving a presentation on how to use a fluorometer to characterize biomolecules at 11:05AM (ET)

Fluorescence spectrometry offers a non invasive analysis of bio samples and Michele will discuss how instrument configuration, measurement strategies and experimental design are best optimised to support evaluation and application of fluorescent probes.
