I’m a mum of two gorgeous boys Cody 11 and Mason 8, my troublesome trucks who are growing up way too fast. Married my amazing husband at just 23 and we are enjoying our 15 year anniversary in August, craziness! I’m a master juggler, like most entrepreneurs and mums in business, we do it all. always been a keen gym goer and fell in love with running a few years ago. After losing both my mother and father to cancer in 2019 I re-evaluated what really mattered. I qualified as a Personal Trainer to help more people on their health and fitness journey. I became much more aware of diet and nutrition, I also became a vegan. I feel proud and very lucky that I am surrounded by positive supportive friends and family. My aim is to make as many people feel happy, confident and supported on their fitness journey. To fall in love with themselves again and to feel fabulous. Anything we do in life is 80% mindset and 20% skill and 100% action. If you’re moving you’re winning! Throughout the last 7 years I’ve hit some really big challenges, both in business and personally. I’ve overcome these hurdles successfully. I want to help you do the same. If I can do it anyone can! Transformation Thursday my journey so far…

I remember looking at the first photo and thinking OMG! I know I’ve never been huge but tbh on this holiday I felt it! I wasn’t happy, all my clothes were tight and I was generally eating WAY more than I should. I was training but not regularly and I was giving the workouts that I was doing way too much credit when it came to my food.
I’ve taken lots of “before” photos over the last few years never really happy with the “after” photo. Until recently, I feel stronger fitter and much healthier. I workout because I love it! It’s my zone out time. I eat healthy with my treats but I don’t comfort eat and I don’t binge. I take the best supplements so I can train harder. I have had THE BEST support from my gorgeous friends and husband. So this is my accountability that I WILL NEVER over eat and get that big ever again. Now I am helping others to feel great about themselves and hit their health and fitness goals. I may not be a “typical” mega fit PT but I give it 100% and getting stronger every single day. I know what my ladies are going through and will support them every step of the way!! 💕 Every fitness or weight loss journey is different and I want to help.

Why do we often find it so hard? So here’s the truth bomb, scroll past if you don’t want to hear the truth. I know because I’ve done it!!

😳 Calorie deficit. What it is and why it’s important for weight loss.

Calories are the units of energy you get from foods and beverages, and when you consume fewer calories than you burn, you achieve a calorie deficit. Simple right? WRONG! Most people do not know their BMI so just guess how many calories they need on a day to day bases. Added in with the secret hidden calories we just “forget” to log. I know I’ve done it myself! The extra glass of wine, pinching a sausage off the kids plate or just simply position size.

The calories you burn or expend each day — also known as calorie expenditure — include the following three components (1Trusted Source):
~
Resting energy expenditure (REE). REE refers to the calories your body uses at rest for functions that keep you alive, such as breathing and blood circulation.
Thermic effect of food. This involves the calories your body expends digesting, absorbing, and metabolizing food.
Activity energy expenditure. This refers to the calories you expend during sports like exercise and non-exercise related activities, including fidgeting and performing household chores.
If you provide your body fewer calories than it needs to support these three components of calorie expenditure, you put your body into a calorie deficit. Doing so consistently for long periods results in weight loss.

The magic word here is consistency... to loss just 1lb of fat you need to be in a calorie deficit of 3500 per week, yep! Per week, every week. No cheat days, no secret calories (your body knows FYI).

And THAT my friend is why we can struggle to loss weight. Sad but true. Now I’m not talking about extreme exercise or muscle building that’s a whole different subject matter.

So if you struggle with consistency, I would say to reevaluate your goal and why you want to lose weight and/or get fit and healthy. My guess would say it’s not strong enough.

I’ve seen and heard so much rubbish about carbs recently… here’s the truth!
What is a carbohydrate?
Carbohydrates are one of the three main macronutrients that make up all food (protein and fat being the the other two). All three of these macronutrients are essential for the body to function.
Carbs can be split into three groups:
Sugars - 🍇 🍉 🍎 🍫 🍬 🧁
Starch - bread, pasta, grains, and potatoes 🥯 🥔 🍞
Dietary fibre - cereals, fruits, vegetables, dried peas, nuts, lentils and grains 🥦 🍓 🍏 🥜
⚡️ I’ll say it again… carbohydrates don’t make you fat! ⚡️
Any food can cause weight gain if you eat too much. It doesn’t matter whether your diet is high in fat, carbohydrates or protein. If you are frequently consuming more energy than your body needs and uses, the result will probably be weight gain. You do need to try and balance your macros if possible, to ensure your body is getting what it needs to stay healthy, but ultimately weight gain comes from eating too many calories… not too many carbs.
Stop demonising carbs and not allowing yourself foods that you love (PASTA 💓). Instead… educate yourself, concentrate on calories and nutrition, try to balance your macros, allow yourself the foods you enjoy as long as you are aware of the calories within those.
