We finally have photographs of one of our hospitality lighting schemes: The Nine Kings Suite at The Royal Lancaster Hotel.
We collaborated with to develop a new lighting scheme that offers complete flexibility for this multi-purpose event space. New lighting was added to highlight architectural features, wall lighting, downlights, staircases, and feature chandeliers.
These striking chandeliers were previously lit using low-voltage point sources behind the crystals, which provided some sparkle but left dull spots in certain areas. We experimented with various approaches to maximise their visual impact and developed a solution that exceeded expectations. Hiding LED sheets behind the glass with an extremely tight pitch produced a fantastic result, delivering far greater impact than before.
This was combined with dim-to-warm technology, meaning they provided a bright, airy sparkle that complemented the daylight for conference-style events, but they became cosy and warm as they dimmed down for evening functions, maintaining a beautiful effect throughout.
Warm white or coloured lighting can be integrated into the scheme using high-output RGBW linear coves that accentuate the ceiling coffers and provide ambient illumination within the space. Direct downlighting is supplied by extremely low-glare luminaires, also utilising dim-to-warm technology. These luminaires can produce bright light levels for conference-style events and a gentle, warm glow after dark for dining and entertainment.
Lighting was elsewhere employed to enhance the connecting areas, staircases, and pathways in and out.
A.C. Special Projects Ltd managed the process and supplied all the lighting from .lighting .fx , .at , technology ltd, and . They also provided the lighting controls, removed the old lighting, installed the new scheme, carried out the finishing work, and conducted the commissioning to a very high standard, ensuring the client was delighted with the result.
