Last year, at the height of the pandemic, when I was in search of something to do, I turned to a passion I have - , and a desire I had - to build something of my own. And at the time was born.
It stemmed from my kids' love for . One evening, as we were reading one of my son's 'personalised' storybooks, he turned to me and said, "But papa, that's not me in there". And with that comment came the thought of creating something new.
Yesterday, was shortlisted on awards under the category. And seeing our name alongside other innovative and impactful publishing and book businesses made me proud of what we achieved and glad that we did what we did.
We may not win the , and that's fine, but ultimately being recognised for what we set out to do - changing the way are told - is in and of itself quite a win and a happy moment.
Hopefully, now, when you read a Picabook to your little one, you don't have to fumble with an answer as to why the characters in there don’t resemble them. Because hey, in a Picabook, you are the of our .
